Hi dr,I'm a breastfeeding mum, i hv taken postinor2. Is it ok if keep breastfeed. I read that small amount of levonorgestrel does pass to the infant?
Selective reduction: This is a relatively new procedure reducing from twins to one. The studies show about a 2% miscarriage loss of both babies.
Does the babies ( under 6 mts & on mother feed ) who fed more frequently gain more and r more healthy as compare to ones who demand less frequently .
Babies are different: Even at that very young age, babies have their own personalities and likes and dislikes. Some babies are big eaters a few times a day, others are "grazers" who like to snack small amounts all day. The end result - weight gain, adequate growth, and appropriate development are the goal, and these can be achieved with either type of feeding. In the end it's the calorie intake a day that counts.See 2 more doctor answers
Why do babies go to a separate place when being born for shots?Nd is not because the mother can't handle it when a few weeks u watch your baby get shots
No good reason: Your pediatrician may prefer to examine and treat the baby elsewhere. But, you are the mother! if you don't want the baby to leave you to get shots, you have every right to tell them that you want your baby to stay with you. Having surgery, or having to go to the intensive care unit is really the only reason your baby would need to leave your side.
See details: There is no direct effect. Some forms of osteoarthritis, especially involving the hands, can be inherited.
Even without any perfume, I smell nice and so does my mother.Even her mother used to smell terrific. My sister always smells like babies. Why is it so?
Different scent: People have their own individual scent- pheromones. This is part of what attracts us to certain people. It's good that you like the scent of your family members.
I'm a mother if 4 children i had my last 4.5 months ago why dose my hair become so fine and fall out after I have my babies when they are at 3 months?
Hair loss: This can be a normal occurrence after delivery. This is due to the decreased level of Estrogens after delivery. Estrogens were responsible for your hair growth during your pregnancy. Occasionally you can develop hypothyroidism and lose your hair but by and large hair loss is a normal phenomenon.
What does a positive M.urealyticum result mean? Does this need to be treated if no symptoms? Does it pose risk to babies if mother has the infection?
Normal bacteria: Ureaplasma urealyticum is enitrely normal in the female genital tract. At any point in time, it can be found in about half of all healthy women. There is no risk to babies in the uterus or during delivery. Some strains sometimes cause nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) in men, but even in men most UU is entirely normal. Most STD experts never even test for it. No treatment is needed.
I thought diphtheria had been wiped out a long time ago, but my mother says that the vaccinations are still being given. Is it necessary for babies to be vaccinated?
Yes: As we all emphasize, the only truly eradicated vaccine preventable disease appears to be smallpox. Although some are rare, there are pockets of disease thruout the world. All it takes is one infected traveler interacting with a susceptible population to trigger a serious outbreak.See 2 more doctor answers
Eye problems: The infection can spread to the baby and cause a number of infections, most notably a very serious eye infection. This is usually prevented with eye drops given at birth.
Yes & No: 1. Verify that the mother has mononucleosis or a mono-like illness; there are several viruses that cause mono or mono-like illness; 2. Ebstein barr virus is present in breast milk; studies show very little transmission mother to infant in that manner; there is some evidence mother to fetus transmission during pregnancy; CMV however is very transmissible; 3. Largest risk factor is saliva transmiss.See 3 more doctor answers
Yes: With the transition to life outside the womb, one of the biggest changes is initiation of breathing. Babies will often cry some as they start breathing, and one of the factors we assess in the evaluation of the newborn is a good cry as a sign of normal respiratory effort.
Infant Gonorrhea mum: If mother had prenatal care then she has in all probability has been treated. But if the mother hadc no prenatal care and comes and deliver the baby and is diagnosed with gonorrhea, even then there is no risk to the baby as all babies born in us are treated with erythromycine opthalmic ointment to prevent gonococcal conjunctivitis. If there is coexisting chlamydia baby can be treated with azithromyci.
Infant vomiting: Causes include: a. Overfeeding - Breast milk production is based upon demand and if the breast is used as pacifier it can produce so much milk a baby will overfeed and vomit. b. GERD - if the baby is fussy and wanting to be fed a lot and vomits more, acid reflux can be the cause. c. Obstruction - yellow vomiting if present requires a doctor visit soon, as something is wrong. d. Normal
Different problems : During diabetes a fetus can grow too much because of the excess Insulin it produces in response to the mothers blood sugar. It can also fail to grow (iugr) due to diabetes causing a poorly functioning placenta. Both can occur. Optimal blood sugar control is the key to improve outcomes.See 2 more doctor answers
Seldom a problem: With regular prenatal care this combination is seldom a problem. The bigger threat is unrecognized rh sensitization/ reaction in baby & preventive care using Rhogam during and after pregnancy if needed has dropped the frequency of rh disease significantly.B to o issues occasionally cause a moderate jaundice problem that needs monitoring but i've never seen one produce a major problem.
