Fundal height is 4 weeks more than my due date but baby measuring 2 weeks smaller than my due date, what does this mean?

Fundal height is 4 weeks more than my due date but baby measuring 2 weeks smaller than my due date, what does this mean?

It means little: Fundal height generally approximates but does not always correlate to the actual gestational age. The measurement that you describe, I am assuming, is an ultrasound that is also an approximation. ...Read more

Could gestational sac measure small due to dehydration? The baby is measuring normal with a normal hb but the sac is measuring almost 2 weeks behind.

Could gestational sac measure small due to dehydration? The baby is measuring normal with a normal hb but the sac is measuring almost 2 weeks behind.

No: Dehydration does not affect the size of the gestational sac because the fluid around the developing embryo does not come from your body systems. The size of the embryo is a more reliable measure of gestational age and thus should be used when possible. ...Read more

Gestational sac measuring two weeks smaller than baby. Baby measuring normal for dates and hb is good. Why is the sac so small and is this a bad sign?

Small gest sac: Would not be too concerned about sac size. If CRL is appropriate and HB is good those are very good signs. Be patient. Too early yet to tell much. Hope this helps. Best of luck. And Congratulations! ...Read more

Throughout pregnancy baby has measured small on ultrasound. Now 34 weeks measuring 60th percentile. Why might this be? Scared of having a large baby!

Throughout pregnancy baby has measured small on ultrasound. Now 34 weeks measuring 60th percentile. Why might this be? Scared of having a large baby!

You and dad: Your baby's size is determined mostly by your and dads genetic codes and how they interact. Your baby's percentile means very little in the way of medical risk unless the percentile is at either end of the growth curve. Being 60th percentile means being right in the middle of the pack - this is good news ! I suggest you talk to your OB and ask them the same questions, it's important ! ...Read more

How accurate is an ultrasound at 14 weeks with a due date of july 12 my last ultrasound was done at 22 weeks showing also july due date as 7/19?

U/S at 8-11 weeks: A prenatal ultrasound at 8-11 weeks of gestation is more accurate than earlier or later scans, for estimating the due date. So, the 14 weeks scan probably gives a better estimate than does the 22 weeks scan. ...Read more

How accurate are the doctors measurements of the baby to determine baby weeks, due date, conception, ovulation etc...

How accurate are the doctors measurements of the baby to determine baby weeks, due date, conception, ovulation etc...

Pregnancy dating: I assume you are talking about ultrasound measurements. The accuracy depends on when the ultrasound is performed-- an early ultrasound (8-10 weeks) is accurate to within a few days. Later ultrasounds are much less accurate and may have a margin of error of up to 3 weeks in the late 3rd trimester. ...Read more

Besides the apgar score, what determines a premature baby if the due date was in question, or if the baby was just small (5.5 lb baby at 35.5 weeks)?

Besides the apgar score, what determines a premature baby if the due date was in question, or if the baby was just small (5.5 lb baby at 35.5 weeks)?

Not sure of ?: Ballard score is used to estimate a babies gestational age at birth (weeks gestation). Apgar not used for this; it is an initial assessment of babies health at time of birth sometimes used to know if particular interventions (resuscitation) are needed and how successful they are. ...Read more

I had ultrasound on 01/20/14, with the baby measuring at 4.8 cm, is this accurate for a dating of 11weeks 4 days fetus?

Can a 7-8 week vaginal ultrasound be a month off with dating the gestational age/due date?

Can a 7-8 week vaginal ultrasound be a month off with dating the gestational age/due date?

Not likely: A 7-8 week vaginal sono should be within a week of the actual date of conception plus 2 weeks. The gestational age is expressed as weeks since last menstrual period (lmp) and assumes conception 2 weeks later. If you are 4 weeks less than expected you conceived one cycle later. Due date is an estimate of 40 weeks since the lmp and assumes you will carry full term and not be late or preterm. ...Read more

Hi there, We had our first ultrasound today at 9 weeks 2 days. The baby is measuring (crown to rump) an accurate 9w2d, but the gestational sac is 8 ?

Hi there,
We had our first ultrasound today at 9 weeks 2 days. The baby is measuring (crown to rump) an accurate 9w2d, but the gestational sac is 8 ?

Many results of US: There r many measurements that r taken during the trimester ultrasounds (US) to help gauge how the fetus is progressing. None of the measurements are 100% accurate. Doctors use the battery to get an idea of how well the fetus is growing. No 1 measurement is supreme; u have to take them all in context. If ur OB is not worried abt the US, u shd not worry. Congrats, & thanks for asking HealthTap! ...Read more
