Fluid lump behind ear?

Fluid lump behind ear?

Not certain: It sounds like there is a fluid collection in the skin behind the ear. Questions to ask yourself: is this soft? Does it move when you touch it? Is it painful or red? Have you had any surgery in this region? There is a natural " lump" behind the ear that is called the mastoid process. This can have an infection and if there is surrounding fluid this may be the fluid lump rthat you see. See your dr.

I have a hard lump behind ear on head. Please answer?

Lipoma: Lipomas, a fatty tumor are common in this location as well as a few other tumors. Has the lump been present for some time or rapidly developing recently? If rapid, get an evaluation by an ENT specialist fairly soon. If it has been there for some time, you can probably ignore it if it does not bother you and is not changing.

What to do if I'm young and worried! Lump behind ear!?

What to do if I'm young and worried! Lump behind ear!?

Ear lump: Hello, the bone behing your ear is called your mastoid prominence. There are lymph nodes in this area that may become inflamed and cause pain. I would recommend ibuprophen as directed for a few days. If this persists, then see your family doctor. I hope this helps.

I'm worried about a movable lump behind ear. What should I do?

See your doctor: This type of mass may be a lymph node or may something more worrisome. The parotid salivary gland typically extends just behind the earlobe and may develop tumors in that portion of the gland, called the tail of the parotid. You should have your doctor evaluate this mass.

Red hard lump behind ear. Is red and if I touch it it hurts?

Red hard lump behind ear. Is red and if I touch it it hurts?

Either or see a doc: It could be either a lymph node and that will explain the tenderness and mass effect it could be an oil gland cyst what is called sebaceous cyst that could get hard like a solid mass and it could get infected and turn to abscess like structure either way you need to see your doctor for evaluation and proper treatment at least with antibiotic before the infection spread good luck

Sebaceous Cyst: Sounds like a sebaceous cyst. These are very common and of no cause to worry. Generally they do not require medical treatment unless they become unsightly, painful or infected. Treatment options include surgical excision.

Hard lump discovered 2 wks ago behind ear. Dr said if not gone in 4 wks then biopsy. Should I wait on biopsy longer than that if no other symptoms?

Hard lump discovered 2 wks ago behind ear. Dr said if not gone in 4 wks then biopsy. Should I wait on biopsy longer than that if no other symptoms?

Your call: If it is stable, and not painful, it is very unlikely to be anything beyond a bit of scar (quite firm) or a piece of mastoid process (bone hard) or a benign inclusion cyst (sort of firm and smooth). Full information before you allow biopsy and consider imaging first -- there is an important nerve nearby.

See below: I would certainly get that checked sooner than later. Could be infectious, could also be a malignancy. Any recent illness? Cat scratch or something similar? Any other symptoms?

I have hard big lump on neck behind ear?

I have hard big lump on neck behind ear?

See Head & Neck doc.: Possible lymph node vs. Parotid gland mass other rare cause. Enlarged nodes from 1) normal response to inflammation 2) lymph node cancer 3) regional cancer moved to lymph node 4) weird infections. Parotid masses usuallu require surgery but 80% are benign. If this has been present for more than a few weeks please see a doc experienced in head and neck disease. Usually a Plastic Surgeon or ENT.

Painless lump hard lump on bone behind ear I had it for a few awhile now but I noticed that it has grown a bit?

Mass: It doesn't matter what I think it might be based on the limited information you have provided, it needs to be seen by a doctor. I'm not sure why you have been watching it for "awhile" but now sought medical attention on line instead of in person but you already know you need medical evaluation. See your doctor.

Lump behind ear I found a lump behind my right ear in the morning when getting ready for work. What could it possibly be?

Hard to say: Could be an infected hair follice, could be a lymph node, could be a cyst, could be a lipoma. Hard to say w/o a picture, may want to get it looked at.
