If you have a pinched nerve at the wrist or within the central palm, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, the fisting action could create further compression and more symptoms. Sounds allergic: This sounds like an allergic reaction. Try to figure out what it is that you encounter outside at night that could be causing the reaction. Are you touching anything, inhaling anything or having any type of exposure such as eating/drinking outside. If you can find the cause, avoid it. Multiple joints can be involved, as well as fatigue. But things that cause swelling can also be medications, thyroid disease, diabetes, and allergic reactions to things.
