Baby Keeps Crying And Arching Back
Why is my 7 week old baby crying forth during bottle feed? Sometimes he coughs, arches back and seems like he gets a tummy ache. Reflux?
See your doctor: Many infants between 9 months and 3 years old will have breath holding spells where they turn "blue" and can faint from holding their breath. These spells occur in response to pain or anger - always. Some kids will have some blueness around the lips (not the lips themselves) when crying and this can be normal. I would have my child seen to be sure it is a breath holding spell & nothing concerning. ...Read more
It's OK to let cry.: If there is no other reason for the crying that needs to be treated, then it is definitely ok, and actually recommended to let him cry. You are the parent, and your child needs to learn at an early age that he cannot manipulate you. Trust me, you will be much happier in the long run, and your child will be better able to adapt to different situations. ...Read more
Infant Colic: Sounds like infant colic when a bay is inconsolable. You may try motion, like going for a car ride, or basket on top of a washer or secured swing. You may try changing the diet to a digested formula like neutramagen just in case there is a tummy ache, and if you have not already done so, have the baby checked by a doctor just in case there is a medical reason for being unhappy. ...Read more
Seek counselling: This could just be a symptom of unresolved sadness you have suppressed since early childhood. A few sessions with a therapist could help you understand the issue and get past the frustration. Being raised by parents who refused to acknowledge or validate normal childhood emotions can have this effect. There are other causes. The mind is complex ; life is to short to carry these burdens. ...Read more
Yes: Babies usually need to eat every 3-4 hours in the first month or 2. After a while, that time will start to stretch. Babies can also wake up and cry if they are uncomfortable with gas, wet or dirty diaper, etc. Older babies, who haven't learned to fall asleep on their own, may wake up out of habit, even when they don't need to eat at night. If your baby wakes frequently, see your doctor. ...Read more
Please tell me if there are any evidence proving that babies who are ignored during night time if they wake up crying can develop mental problems?
No there is not.: You should check your baby and make sure that they are not hungry or have a wet or dirty diaper and that they are not hurt in any way and that they have not thrown up. If not, you can actually help your baby learn to get back to sleep by letting them cry and fuss for a short period of time. ...Read more
Absolutely.: If you have ever attended an exciting football game and cheered vociferously for your team, the next morning (if not later that night!) you were probably hoarse and your throat was probably sore. Babies crying use the same basic equipment as your cheering. Obviously it requires rather forceful, red-faced crying (not just a whimper), usually with a waterfall of tears! Resting the voice improves it. ...Read more
Crying alot?: Babies cannot hurt themselves with too much crying. They can become hoarse just as adult can by yelling or too much talking. The more important question is why is the baby crying? Excessive crying can be a sign of a physical or attachment problem and should be discussed with your pediatrician. ...Read more
Why some babies at age 12 months don't sleep good and wake up crying every 20 -30 minutes during the night, what problem can they have?
My 4 month old baby gets histerical once I put his infant carrier in the car. He won't stop crying turning blue and shaking. What should I do?
Keep him safe in car: At four months he is too young for a real temper tantrum. While he may get agitated by the car seat's restrictive environment, his safety in the car is paramount for him to be transported in any other way in the car. You may want to have someone else sit beside him not to make him so lonely. ...Read more
When does the starte reflex stop being so strong in babies? Is it concerning in a 9 week old? He does it and wakes hisself crying as well as awake.
Normal: I see it strong up to 3 months awake and 4 months asleep. It begins to fade as babies nervous system begins to mature. The kids are often a bit unhappy when these involuntary movements happen, but they are normal. ...Read more

My 18 mnth old boy 2 er last night. Wouldn't put his right foot on the ground nd was crying a lot. He has synuvitis of the hip but today he's acting ok?
Toxic synovitis: Toxic synovitis has a scary name, but it's not a scary condition. This temporary inflammation of the hip can cause limping and pain in the hip and leg. This can be unpleasant for a child and unsettling for a parent — especially when symptoms start suddenly, but symptoms tend to resolve within a week or so — and causes no long-term problems. ...Read more

We have a month old infant who is gassy. We do our best to aggresively make him burp but within an hour after feed, he gets up crying from gas pain. Are there any other remedies?
Some possibilities: Babies swallow air- when they eat, suck or cry. During feedings, try to burp him in between every ounce, or between nursing on each side. Hold him upright (on your shoulder) for 15-20 minutes after feedings to help allow the air to rise up and escape, and not get trapped under the milk. Try a lactose free formula. Try simethicone (gas drops for infants). Check with your doctor if this continues. ...Read more

I read online there are lots of side effect for Lamisil. Is there any safe alternative cream to treat infant/toddler's athlete foot?
Safe???: Lamisil is safe and effective when used appropriately & was deemed so by the food & drug administration back when it was only available by prescription. After years of use, its track record allowed it to be released to the general public. Any med that is strong enough to help will have side effects in some people. I find it a safe med. Lotramin is another antifungal that is usually effective. ...Read more
