Possible: But your symptoms are rather suggesting a different etiology for the second wave of symptoms. You probably started with a protracted viral illness and pertussis is a possibility, but I believe now the etiology is different and it may involve a different virus or bacteria, allergies, etc. Definitely worth a visit with your physician. ...Read more

Irritation: Spices like pepper and hot chilis cause irritation which can make you sneeze and cough. I suspect you are having a mild case of layrngeospasm which the cold food. Before it can be effectively treated, the etiology of the cough needs to be determined so see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Each of these possible causes has a different treatment.
