Baby teeth- how important are baby teeth? Can rotten baby teeth affect babies? When should I take baby to the doctor?
Yes. Peds dentist: Rotten baby teeth can reflect more than poor hygiene, and can sometimes be a sign of a nutritional or systemic disorder. Although they will be replaced by adult teeth, rotten teeth and associated bacteria in the mouth have been linked to heart disease in adults. Get your baby to a pediatric dentist as soon as you can. ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers
On demand: It is advisable to feed your baby on demand, on his or her schedule. Consider breast milk may be digested in an hour to two hours as opposed to formula that can take 3 to 4 hours to become digested. That is why breast fed infants feed very frequently and it is not unusual for them to feed 10 t0 12 times in 24 hours. Newborns may loose a little bit of weight the first week and then start gaining. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Depends on sitter: I encourage new parents to create a list of their own needs, including a half hour tub soak or time to read a book chapter or whatever. They should do at least 1/day to break up the parenting pressure. In addition i encourage couples to have at least 1 date night /wk to maintain their relationship separate from baby. The selection of the sitter should be a close adult friend or family member. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Don't worry: Human babies are made to drink human milk. Their guts can be so efficient at absorbing all the nutrients there might not be much to eliminate. It is not unheard of to go 2 weeks or more without a bowel movement in a baby only getting breast milk. It is not considered constipation in this case. As long as baby eats, nurses, behaves, grows and acts normally baby is fine. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Most are safe: From the time when babies are sitting to when they walk is a marvelous opportunity to introduce many flavors of foods (www.Drgreene.Com/colorin). Kids with g6pd deficiency should avoid fava beans. Some kids - depending on their variant - should also avoid blueberries (& yogurts containing them), soy, other legumes, some chinese herbs, or tonic water (not great for babies anyway). Teen boy's going away to college. Immature in taking care of his business matters. Should mom do it?
Can you tell me how can the environment of traditional neonatal intensive care units (nicus) influence preterm babies cognitive, and social development?
NICUs and developmen: The noisy and painful experiences in nicus of the past appeared to affect babies development. Added to that, the lack of parental contact has been shown to be detrimental. Modern, progressive nicus encourage parents to participate in their baby's care or provide surrogates (cuddlers). They cluster care to minimize interruption of babies' natural cycles. They decrease noise and other stimuli. ...Read more
