No effect expected: Shots of vitamins b6, b12, or other vitamins should not have an effect on one's weight. A verterinarian told me they give B12 injections to animals to gain weight? Why then are B12 injections given to lose weight in humans?

No wt loss w/B12: I can't speak for veterinary medicine as I am not a veterinarian. However, as a family physician, i can assure you that i don't give B12 injections to cause weight loss in humans as there is no such link between the two. In other words, taking B12 whether as a shot or pill will not lead to weight loss. If you're low in b12, you may need B12 pills or shots, but that won't cause weight loss. ...Read more

You might try the homeopathic remedies Arnica (for trauma) and Hypericum (for nerve injuries). if it it not better within a few days acupuncture and micro-current therapy can help too. Vitamins: A good multivitamin is a good idea. It's like an insurance policy for when we don't eat right, don't sleep well, or are especially stressed. Go to a good store or get some guidance because the popular brands are typically very week and not helpful. The dose (read label and check that half or more of the ingredients are several 100 per cent above RDA. Dose more important than a long list. ...Read more

Is taking B12 and B6 in pill form better then taking them in desolving stripes. And how much i take of both?

B Vitamins: B vitamins are water soluble and get absorbed quickly. Vit B12 might have problems being absorbed from the stomach if you have a history of gastritis and uclers, because they can destroy intrinsic factor which the stomach needs to absorb b12. If you have an ulcer history, use sublingual B12 (under the tongue) 1000mcg(1mg) daily is a good dose, and 50mg perday is a good dose for b6. ...Read more

Yes, however...: This should be safe. However, elevated homocysteine increases your risk of heart disease and stroke. This is genetic so your child may have high homocysteine which should be treated from a young age. You should add trimethylglycine to your program. How does one go about lowering a high level of vitamin B12 of 1000? It has been that high since 2010. My B6 is also high - 33.4.

Comments: Am not personally troubled when my patients' B-12 comes back elevated, as it is truly unlikely that there will be any problem in near or distant future, but do have them stop the vitamin and recheck in 3 months. Although B-6 can be toxic in some patients, this too will drop over time if you stop it. Your level is not profoundly elevated, currently. ...Read more

See http://ods.Od.Nih.Gov/factsheets/vitaminb6-healthprofessional/ for excellent natural sources of b6. For b12, look no further than wild fish like alaskan salmon. ...Read more
