I recently starting taking dr. Weil's multivitamin many of the dialy % is way over the maximum like vitamin b1, b6, b12, b2 vitamin C , is this ok?
Safe vitamins: All the "b" and c vitamins are water-soluble, so that your body will excrete any that it does not need. "% daily value" is a level the fda determines for preventing deficiencies, not to support optimal functioning. Amounts that exceed this "% daily value" would be what dr. Weil & company feel is more physiologically helpful and safe. For more about vitamin labels: http://tinyurl.Com/mpqbaj7. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What are vitamins b3, B6 & B12 and what do they do for you? Would my vitamins interfere with each other?
How does one go about lowering a high level of vitamin B12 of 1000? It has been that high since 2010. My B6 is also high - 33.4.
Comments: Am not personally troubled when my patients' B-12 comes back elevated, as it is truly unlikely that there will be any problem in near or distant future, but do have them stop the vitamin and recheck in 3 months. Although B-6 can be toxic in some patients, this too will drop over time if you stop it. Your level is not profoundly elevated, currently. ...Read more
Without a deficiency: There may be little benefit if you are not deficient. B6 has a toxicity state. Its one of the few water soluable vitamins that does. B12 deficiency often requires replacement bypass the GI tract (sublingual and intramuscular) as the problem generally is not an intake deficiency but rather a loss of ability to absorb it. Thiamine is rarely deficient: one has to be really malnourished. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it healthy to mix both vitamin B12 and B6 and inject the mixture with a syringe right into the butt?
Yes, but: I notice, you are 26 years old. Normally you wouldn't be a candidate for that. That would be very helpful for elderly, who do not absorb well the nutrients from the food or for other folks with certain problems. Best, Siranush Cholakian MD ...Read more

Not vitamins: You need to be under the care of a competent neurologist who can first rule out organic disease using history, physical, labs and imaging. It's a shame to have normal pressure hydrocephalus, chronic subdural hematoma, meningeal tuberculosis, lues, or a tumor written off as a "vitamin deficiency" -- that's not how real vitamin deficiencies present. No effect expected: Shots of vitamins b6, b12, or other vitamins should not have an effect on one's weight. The only way for a normal, overweight person to lose weight is to eat fewer calories than he uses up each day. His body will burn up fat to get the additional needed calories that he himself is not eating. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am taking 1 vitamin tablet per day, containing b1, B6 and B12 for telogen effluvium. Is it harmful as I have ckd?
Listen to your body: Generally water soluble vitamins are safe if not given in excess dose. There is no evidence that vitamins help telogen effluveum. Take steps to improve your over-all health and especially your kidneys. See the book coping with kidney disease by mackensie walser. ...Read more
I'm taking a supplement called fertility blend (iherb), some prenatals, B6 and b12. Is this too much vitamins? Can it be harmful to take this much?
Vitamin A: Vitamin a is really the only vitamin that you can take too much of. No more than 5, 000 iu a day. Interesting, a lot of women when tested are vitamin d deficient, that's one you might want to take more of. The best way to get vitamins and minerals, though, is in your diet, so really working to have a balanced and healthy diet is much better than taking supplements. Good luck! ...Read more

Does vitamin B6 or B12 supplementation react with lexapro (escitalopram)? Do any vitamins or minerals for that matter?
Yes and no: Lexapro (escitalopram) has no direct interaction with vitamin b6 or vitamin b12. Deficiency of vit B12 can cause depression or even dementia among other things. The same holds for folic acid, another b vitamin. Sometimes we will prescribe vitamin b6 for women who have a depressive reaction to the Progesterone component of birth control pills. L-methyl folate is used to boost the effects of drugs like lexapro (escitalopram). ...Read more

Hi drs.....What are the signs that indicate some one has B12 deficiency ?Do vitamin b1+b6+b12 deficiency have the same signs as B12 deficiency ?
Get checked: Glad you asked. B1 deficiency is rare in people on a diet anywhere close to normal, and b6 deficiency is even less familiar to medicine. B12 deficiency, by contrast, is famously subtle. It is likely to be relatively low in your diet if you're a vegetarian, and several common illnesses prevent its being absorbed through the gut. Simply feeling unwell or slowed mentally precedes the numb fingers. ...Read more
If I have normal blood test levels of B Vitamins such as B12 and B6, does that automatically mean I likely don't have high homocysteine? Thanks!
Are vitamin B6 and B12 water soluble vitamins? Do their excess harm the body or is easily flushed out of urine and is safe?
Is it safe to take 2-b12, 2-b6, 3-lysine, 15000ui of d - vitamins, 4 tbls of crushed flaxseed and also 4 jillian michaels fat burner per day?
Why do that?: No good reason to be taking that combo of stuff. Don't know doses of b6 (too much- nerve damage); 15k iu of d (d2 or d3-different dosing) daily is too much (liver toxic, etc). Jillian michaels product at least says it has 100mg caffeine/dose (from guarana). You have no idea how much of anything else is in the proprietary blend. Can't recommend this regimen-it's wack. ...Read more
I started taking B6 and B12 and I at same time am ravenously hungry, episodes of lightheaded and a bit irritable, is it the vitamins? Is it bad?
Maybe: B6 is involved in making brain neurotransmitters, serotonin & norepinephrine, so depending on the dose, you may have ramped up production a bit. The maximum daily intake is 100 milligrams/day. Vitamin B12 is important in nerve function as well. The recommended intake is usually cited at 2 to 3 micrograms daily, a little more ok. Try to get these in diet; if supplement, not more than recommended. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Chronic abdominal pain since Jan. B12 levels dropped from 609 in Jan to 371 in May and high B6. forgot to take vitamins for a 3 weeks. Is that reason?
Not entirely: A normal person has about a year's worth of B12 stores and not taking vitamins for 3 would not cause the drop in levels you described. It is not feasible to provide a more meaningful opinion without an in-person evaluation. You should see your doctor. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

I got a vitamin B6/12 shot combo on my hip.now the side of my leg near hip running down leg is numb. Is this ok? I've had many B12/6 that were ok.
Should heal soon: Most likely the shot caused trauma to a nerve. This is unfortunate but it should fully heal within a short time. You might try the homeopathic remedies Arnica (for trauma) and Hypericum (for nerve injuries). if it it not better within a few days acupuncture and micro-current therapy can help too. Generally if injections are given in the upper outer quadrant of the buttocks such injuries are rare. ...Read more
