Listen to your body: Methyl cobalamine 500 mcg in a chewable or sublingual from should work well. If you have trouble with UTI 's or skin infections remember that bacteria also like b-12. How was it determined that you were b-12 deficient? May be you are under stress and losing b-12 or deficient in stomach acid and not making intrinsic factor. It is helpful to know cause of deficiency and treat the cause, too.

What form/dosage of B12 should I take daily?

What form/dosage of B12 should I take daily?

Vegan?: If you eat fish, chicken or meat regularly, you probably don't need to supplement at all if you are vegan, you do. Ask your doctor to check your B12 levels to know if you are deficient. Otherwise, don't supplement. Wild fish like salmon is the healthiest source of B12 and you can eat similar fish every other day.

What is the recommended dosage of B12 per day please give dosage in mg not mcg?

WiserFocusBeneficial: Our bodies are open systems: everything coming in must go back out, else we become what does not leave. B12, cyanocobalamin, is abundant in food, not absorbed directly; only if bound by intrinsic factor, needed in tiny amounts to assist 2 biochemical rxs for gene replication prior to cell division, body stores large (many years). If? Ed; absorption? Ed. Base dosage on your blood level & responses.

What is the recommend dosage for a 60 year old female with B12 deficiency?

What is the recommend dosage for a 60 year old female with B12 deficiency?

Inject 1mg per month: Vitamin B12 is usually given 1 milligram per month as an injection. Early in the course of treatment, the doctor may give the 1 mg (1000 micrograms) daily for some days, weekly for some weeks, and then monthly thereafter. Doctors may adjust the dosing schedule depending on a patients level of, and reason for, B12 deficiency.

Is 5000mcg B12 to much for a daily dose?

Is 5000mcg B12 to much for a daily dose?

Yes: A person needs less than 5 microgram of B12 a day. If you are deficient and can not absorb B12 in your intestine talk to your doctor about sub-lingual B12 or injection. You would not nee injection any more than once a month.

Is 500mg of B12 to much to take? If so what's the recommended dose? D3 1000 mg a day to much if so what's the recommended dose?

Not too much: 500 mg of B12 is fine. But beware that B12 can compete with folate (folic acid) for absorption, so take some folate (folic acid) too. Metafolin is good. D3 1000 iu is not too much. Some people need more. Check bloodwork 25 oh d to know your level. 50-60 is a good number and below 40 is on the low side.

What is the max daily dose of vitamin B12 an adult female with very low levels can take? If her face is flushed is she taking too much?

Interesting question: Adults generally need 2.6 micrograms b12/day. To replace deficiencies, im shots bypass gut absorption problems that can contribute to deficiency in the first place. 1, 000 micrograms of intramuscular cobalamin can be given once/day for 10 days, then once/week for four weeks, followed by once/month for life. Sublingual b12, 500-1000mcg/day. The form of B12 (cobalamin) may be important; see comment.

Gum bleeding was gone with 7- B12 inj 500 mcg daily. After the loading dose, it started again. Taking sublingual. But does not help? Cause of Gum bleding?

Infection: Probably gum disease. Easily treatable by a competent Dentist or Periodontist in its earliest stages. Treatment becomes more complex as disease advances. Please make appointment with Dentist. Unless lab tests show that you have a B12 defficiency (seen often in strict vegetarians), bleeding gums most probably due to infection.

Have vitamin B12 deficiency, and was told to start taking daily high dose oral supplements (injections not practical). So many options! What's best?

Try sublingual tabs: Try the sublingual tablets, then get your levels tested in 3-6 months. Place the tablet beneath your tongue/allow it to dissolve. Can be taken with /without food. Heavy alcohol intake can decrease the effectiveness of this medication. Talk with you doctor if you are drink alcohol on a regular basis. B12 also available in tablet / nasal forms. I want to add vitamin B12 to my daily regimen but I take Prilosec everyday for gerd. What kind of dose should I take for energy/heart health?

I want to add vitamin B12 to my daily regimen but I take Prilosec everyday for gerd. What kind of dose should I take for energy/heart health?

Vitamin B12: You can take oral vitamin B12 of 1, 000mcg daily. It's not necessarily helpful for energy or heart health, especially if you are not B12 deficient. Prilosec when used for a very long time can cause B12 deficiency. Prilosec should be taken about 30 minutes before meal, and should not be taken together with vitamin B12 as it can decrease the absorption of b12.

29yr male. Taking monthly B12 NeurobianForte shots-1000mcg. But I get tired in 20days. Can I take higher dosage? How much time would it take for recovery?

Vit B12 def: Do you have pernicious anemia or vegetarian. Though recommended to be given monthly, Most patients who respond due report the waning effect of the energy boost after 2 weeks. Hence I repeat the injection in such patients after two weeks. Vitamin B12is water soluble hence not widely distributed in body tissues hence can be easily excreted

No Becadexamin but:: Find Vitamin D3 by itself in 5000 or 10, 000 iu capsules. For levels that low take 20, 000 iu/day for 2 weeks, 10, 000 iu/day for a month and then 5000 iu/day. Monitor levels monthly- optimal levels are 50-80. You need to take 50 Becadexamin's a day to get 20, 000 iu but that would give toxic levels of iron. I advise men avoid Becadexamin as iron supplements are usually harmful for men. See comment:
