Azo Test Strips Results
At two minute mark my Azo UTI strip showed "trace" color for leu. A few minutes later was darker. Which is correct? The test says its ready in two.
Urinary test WBCs: You probably have some trace leukocytes there but what you observe is the test strip "keeps reacting" after the 2 min mark, so it looks "more positive" than it is. Best to follow the test instructions exactly. White blood cells (WBCs) could indicate a urinary tract infection so you should probably see a doctor about it. ...Read more
Have hematuria. Used OTC "azo test strips" to confirm uti. Do I need go dr for med or do OTC med help? It'll b few days b4 can c dr is that k?
I have 500+ on the Azo urine test strip, negative for the nitrite. Have had a low fever ranging from 99.0-100.3 for the last 2 weeks. What could it be?
UrineUrineEverywhere: There are lots of opinions about discrepancies between the Nitrite and Leukocyte parts of the urine test. But here's my take: if you have symptoms and either or both is positive then it's most likely a UTI; both negative, repeat the test in a day and if still negative, ask your doctor. No symptoms then don't take the test just for "fun." You may end up getting confused and wasting a lot of time. ...Read more
I keep testng pos for WBCs on azo test strips even after two days of Cipro (ciprofloxacin). (Neg for nitrites). No pain &no urine odor. Could this be smthng serious?
Doubt UTI. STD?: Without pain, urgency, or frequency, and with negative nitrites and non-response to ciprofloxacin, probably not a urinary tract infection. Maybe WBC test (leukocyte esterase) isn't working right. Or not clean urine (vaginal WBC?). Yeast? Depending on your risk for STD, it could be gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas, yeast. Or something else entirely. Best to stop cipro and contact your doctor. ...Read more
Would azo cause a negative UTI result? Took a UTI test Wednesday at the doctor. High nitrate levels. Negative lab culture came back today.
Prostatitis: Assuming that you are a 22 y/o male, the most common cause of lower urinary symptoms is prostatitis. urine cultures are often negative with prostatitis. It is a clinical diagnosis which requires examination and careful history taking. Check with a urologist for examination and diagnosis if symptoms persist. ...Read more
Do I have a UTI or STD I have no symptoms but I been getting a lot testical pain I took a Azo test strip and I got leukocytespositive andNitrite neg?
Go see your doctor:
You're a young male and have testicular pain - go and see your doctor.
Leukocyte positive can be from UTI or STI as you said - nitrite can be falsely negative in UTI; so no one online can give you a definitive answer.
So short answer - again, go see your doctor - especially since you're having testicular pain. ...Read more

I took @ home AZO urine strip TEST showed hint of purple on leukocyte and neg. On nitrite. Do I need Doc or am I ok. And could it be BV or YI back pain?

Urge to urinate for a few weeks now, but no other UTI symptoms. AZO test strips test positive for WBC & nitrites. Is it more likely a UTI or an STD?
UTI is more likely: Gonorrhea or chlamydia can mimic some UTI symptoms, but usually this would be burning on urination; urgency alone is more likely bladder inflammation due to UTI, especially for "a few weeks" and with positive nitrite and WBC. See a doctor soon: you need a formal urinalysis, probably a urine culture, STD testing since it's on your mind, and probably an antibiotic prescription. ...Read more
Don't think so: What was your test positive for? Azo is both a commonly used name for a medication used to reduce pain of urinary tract infection, and which also can turn urine orange and stain things, and the name of a company that makes several products. Methadone programs are required to do confirmatory tests for positive screens, and you should ask for that, if you haven't used other drugs. ...Read more

I have had a UTI for months. I am wanting to get tests done to find out why the infection won't go away and why there are RBC. Can Azo interfere?
Tested positive on leukocytes in my urine with Azo urine test, but at the doctors the culture came back negative. But I don't understand how my urine?
Urine WBC, UTI, STD?: The Azo urine leukocytes (WBC) test gives a clue about urinary tract infection, but that's all. WBCs can appear in the urine from vulva or vaginal fluids if not a good "clean catch" specimen. Discuss with doctor if you have typical UTI symptoms (urgency, burning). If not, retest and don't worry if leukocytes normal. STDs also can cause urine WBC with negative culture, so get checked if at risk. ...Read more
I am having urinary frequency every 30 mins to 1 hr. I tried AZO uti test came back negative. What's wrong? No burning or pain just frequency
See a doctor: Several possibilities come to mind: diabetes, especially if large urine volumes; STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas; other vaginal infections; kidney disease; psychological issues; and more. It's time for you to stop trying to diagnose yourself and see a doctor. Probably it won't be anything serious, but better safe than sorry. Good luck. ...Read more
I took an at home Azo test because I'm having UTI symptoms. It is positive. Went to the doctor and he did and test and said negative. What do I do?
Here are some. ..: AZO test result may differ from different specimen because the urine freshness, its duration inside bladder (> 4 hrs), possible use of vitamin C, adequacy of urine collection to avoid contamination, etc. So, one has to realize the presence of factors affecting this test leading to false (-). Besides, urine culture from properly collected fresh urine is the "ultimate" test for confirmation, . .. ...Read more
Posted question yestetday 50 year old female with UTI symptoms., Drs responded UTI. Bought AZO URINE TEST shows leucocitos in urine/nitroto normal?
Here are some...: Many causes may induce UTI-like symptoms. (+) for WBC & (-) for nitrite in chemstrip dipstick suggest the presence of inflammation indeed in urinary tract or possible contamination from improper urine collection or no UTI by gram negative bacilli, not gram positive cocci or urine not staying inside bladder long enough. So, seek timely evaluation and counseling so to define right Dx for right Rx... ...Read more

I had a random drug test because I am in a pain contract. A few days before, I had a UTI and had been using AZO tabs. The doctor will not refill my?
Here are some...: If urine test is the must step before refilling pain med for your essential long-term pain control, you have be off AZO for 3-5 days so not to taint testing since AZO is not antibiotics. On the other hand, for someone with high trustworthiness, a doctor may refill pain med after properly documenting no clinical abuse of pain medication, which has become socially epidemic among many pain med users. ...Read more
I just finished my antibiotics yesterday for my uti. I have no symptoms. This morning I did an Azo test. It showed positive for Leu and neg for Nit?
Infection cleared: Most likely since you are now asymptomatic and the urine dip was negative for nitrites. Leukocytes are part of your body's defense system and may still be present as they finish their course of getting rid of the infection. Nitrites are a by-product of bacteria that cause the UTI. Since it is negative, likely the infection has cleared. If you develop symptoms again, see your PCP for a re-check ...Read more

Took an AZO at home UTI test. Positive for Leukocytes, negative on Nitrates. I have no pain just urgency and slight burn. Comes and goes, not const.
UTI: These home kits are meant to indicate probability that symptoms are due to infection. The absence of nitrites in the urine can mean either that the organism causing infection doesn't convert nitrate to nitrite or that the inflammation indicated by symptoms and by leukocytes is not bacterial. You should see a doctor and determine whether you should be treated. Frankly it sounds like UTI to me. ...Read more

Can uricalm or Azo effect the outcome of a home pregnancy test? Ijust started antibiotics today for a UTI but my period is 3 days late.
No.: Home pregnancy tests detect the presence of beta-hcg, a hormone produced during pregnancy. Medications would not alter the level of this hormone. Menstrual cycle length can vary by a few days from month to month. If your period still has not come in the next couple days, you might consider making a doctor's appointment to see what's going on. ...Read more

The Plan B likely interfered with your body's normal hormonal balance. It may take up to three months after taking it to get a period. However a blood pregnancy test is not a bad idea at this point. Otherwise, if your period does not come in the next month see your doctor. He/she can prescribe a pill that can induce a period, and then a birth control pill can be started to stabilize your period and prevent pregnancy.
