What's an average resting heart rate for a 15 year old boy?

What's an average resting heart rate for a 15 year old boy?

Probably 50-70: Depends on how much exercise /physical activity he gets. But a true resting hr for the average adolescent male probably runs 50-70. For those who do sports, it can be lower, into the 40's. I grew up playing competitive sports, and at that age through my early 20's mine was about 40-42. If its considerably faster, say 90 or greater, I would seen by a pediatric cardiologist. ...Read more

Cardiology: Yes, you should see a Cardiologist, discontinue any energy drinks, decongestants, coffee, tea, Moutain Dew or other stimulants for now. That is abnormally high for a resting heart rate. A Holter monitor or event monitor might be instructive. At least see your primary care physician for an EKG and advice. With a consistent resting heart rate of 85 what would you expect a brisk walk to the shops heart rate to be? 23 year old female w/ slightly high BMI.

With a consistent resting heart rate of 85 what would you expect a brisk walk to the shops heart rate to be? 23 year old female w/ slightly high BMI.

100-120: Your resting heart rate over 80 indicates a lack of physical fitness, assuming your thyroid and medical condition to be otherwise normal. I would guess that a brisk walk would increase your heart rate modestly since you are not obese. At your age, you ought to be doing more vigorous exercise to get your heart rate above 140 for about 20 minutes a day for optimal health and fitness. ...Read more

I'm a 19 year old female with a sore throat, a slight fever, and a resting heart rate of 115 Bpm. Am I ok?

Likely: You sound concerned. You should understand that the heart rate you cite is just part of your illness and your heart (at your age) will tolerate that rate quite well. It does not mean you are in danger. You need to stay hydrated & get your rest. A trip to the doc/clinic for a strep test would be wise. ...Read more

My resting heart rate is 120 bpm. Is this a normal thing for a 18 year old?

High: A resting heart rate of 120 BPM is abnormal for an 18 year old. The most common cause for a high resting heart rate in an 18 year old is anxiety, but there are several other important causes. Hi doctors, is it normal for a 60 year old male to have a resting heart rate of 57 bpm. Thankyou?

Hi doctors, is it normal for a 60 year old male to have a resting heart rate of 57 bpm. Thankyou?

A bit low but...: "Normal" resting heart rate for men is 60-100, though 57 concerns me less than if it was 90. Those who are in good athletic condition may have lower heart rates. 57 is close enough to normal to be of minimal concern.
PS If you are on Lipitor (atorvastatin) I consider it essential to also take CoQ10.

Decinditioned or OSA: I suspect that you are at the very least, out of shape, but you may have sleep apnea. I see pts of your size w/ similar heart rate ranges and are found w/ sleep apnea. If you have sx of fatigue, headaches, shortness of breath or chest pain, sleep apnea is more likely than deconditioning. I suggest speaking to ur PCP about having a sleep study. If PCP okays it, start diet and exercise ...Read more
