Sure, but...: Of course a 13 year old should exercise, and exercise for all of us should contain both "weight" and "cardio". This should not even be considered exercise, but a part of good lifestyle. Low fat diet (no fast food) and swimming; walking; jugging; running; playing basketball; tennis; etc. Providing that they will be done regularly as a change in his life style, will help him to lose weight.
