I am 16.5 year old boy. My weight is 53kg. My height is 5 feet 4 inches. I want to increase my height. Please suggest me about height iam so worry?
Endocrine: Recently growth hormone has been approved for use in pediatric patients with growth potential and short stature. You need to consult with your pediatrician to see bone age--- ie wrist x ray will reveal that. If the growth plates not fused yet--get referral to a pediatric endocrinologist for further evaluation and management. ...Read more
Iam 16.5 year old boy my heignt is 5'4. I want to increase my height my parents height is normal not heighted. Can growth hormone increase my height?
Unlikely to happen: Growth centers in long bones determine how tall you can grow. Most growth centers will close at 16-17. If your growth centers are open, a balanced diet/rest ; healthy physical activity will support good growth and gh injections would only get you to your expected genetic height faster, not add extra. ...Read more
My hands are short iam 16.5 year old boy and I am deficient of vitamin d since last year. From now iam taking suppliments. Does my height grow..
Iam 16.5 year old but iam look like 12 or 13 years boy. My height is 5'4.5 does my height increase further. .
Maybe. Maybe not.: Most people reach their maximum height in their late teens. Without nutritional problems or chronic childhood illnesses, height is largely based on genetics and parental heights. Aside from eating right, exercising, sleeping well, and being happy, there's not much a person nor his doctor can do to increase height. One can ask the pediatrician about height, at a check-up or an extra office visit. ...Read more
Need evaluation: Blood in stool should be evaluated, unless it is scant and follows after a large, constipated stool, which is likely to give a small tear or fissure. Short term weight loss in a 5 year old can occur with acute illness like the flu, but if accompanied by blood in the stool, it implies some type of colitis, and this should be evaluated. ...Read more

What can I expect at an endocrinologist appointment for a 5 year old who isn't gaining height/weight? Already did blood tests and X-ray of hand.
I have a 44lb 3foot 10inch 5 year old son who I think is small. Is this a good hight weight combo?
Yes: If you plot his height and weight on a chart you will find he is in the 50th percentile in weight and maybe 90th percentile in height. There is nothing about that which raises any red flags. Hopefully the pediatrician has been plotting his growth and will let you see how he how he has been progressing and I would check with them. ...Read more

My son has a blood pressure of 150/111, he is twenty five years old. What can we do to help with his headache? His height is 5'6, his weighs 218lbs.
Have you repeated the blood pressure to make sure the value you got was accurate?
If this is a severe headache, I recomend that you take him to the emergency room. I can not tell by reading this if he has chronic hypertension. I don't know if his blood pressure is causing his headache or if his headache is so severe, that it is causing his blood pressure to rise. In general blood pressure reading of 180 or higher for the top number (systolic pressure) and 110 on the bottom or higher (diastolic pressure) is pretty significant. Since there isn't much information here, I recommend a prudent approach and that you take him to the emergency room so that he can be checked out. ...Read more
My younger brother, a five years old boy, has a fever with cough but we noticed that their is a little blood inside his phlegm. Is this a risk?
See below: Blood streaking in the phlegm could be due to a blood nose (epistaxis) that drained to the back of the throat, but it may also be due to other reasons, like a tear in the throat from hard coughing or worse. . . A bronchitis or pneumonia. Especially if the child is having any breathing difficulty, get him seen asap. ...Read more
My five years old girl looks skiny and loses weight easily too. Is there anyway to improve the situation?
Better nutrition: First, check a growth chart. She may be normal. If her weight is too low for her height, improve her calorie intake. She should drink whole milk and avoid low calorie/empty calorie drinks such as soda and juice. There are nutritional supplements but it is best to give her a well balanced diet. ...Read more
Sebaceous cyst: The only cure for a cyst is removal, so most of the time it is just watched. If the cyst is red, enlarging or painful, then antibiotics will help. It should shrink in size over a couple of weeks. Then it can usually be followed without any treatment until it gets red or swollen again. ...Read more
How long is the typical attention span for sitting and doing completing activity (e.G., reading or writing) of a 5-year old boy?
Depends on the boy: For some 5-10 minutes. For others 30+ minutes when it interests them. Boys tend to be more physically active than girls and tend not to sit still for extended periods of time especially if bored. This question has to be answered in the context of what this child is doing when and where and what is the goal to be accomplished. Is this s a problem at school? Home? Etc. ...Read more
I haw a 5 year old boy who used to eat well but for the last few months he is complaining a lot about food. He feels full without eating. Any ideas wh?
Varies: Many children have wide ranges in how much they eat...Even day to day. Your child is complaining about food and has satiety without eating. He needs to be seen by your doctor. Sometimes constipation can do this. Sometimes gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining) can affect eating. His symptoms merit a visit and further evaluation. ...Read more
Look for lead point: The intussiception (telecscoping of bowel on itself) is an uncommon but worrisome event. It can arise spontaneously or due to a "lead point".There are lymph glands in the wall of the bowel that may produce an outward bump & a structure called a meckle's diverticulum can lead the process to form. If the process is reduced with a enema (not surgery), other studies may be done to look for a reason. ...Read more

Viral: If your child is fully vaccinated and does not have any underlying conditions, it is probably viral, with no need for antibiotics. If he has persistent fever or chest pain he needs an exam. Otherwise, fluids, prop him up to sleep, and some Benadryl (diphenhydramine) before bedtime to help him sleep through the night without coughing. ...Read more
Give it time: Babies often change from appearing "bow legged" as they start to walk; "knock kneed" at 4-6 and straightened up by 8-10. The most some do would be to document the amount (measurements from x-rays), since this is all relative. This is a conversation you can have with the kids doc. If s/he did not explore the issue it was probably mild enough not to do so, but I would discuss that. ...Read more
My 4.5 year old boy is sleeping and his hart rate is 120 a min is it a concern he has also bin sleeping most of the day?
Pulse ok: But a little faster than expected for a child his age while sleeping. Of more concern is why he is sleeping most of the day. Mild fever, slight dehydration or mild infection will cause the pulse to increase proportionately, but in itself doesn't explain his sleepiness. Infection?? Headache?? Please get him evaluated if he doesn't improve. Meanwhile, push fluids. ...Read more
