Hi how do I stop my 20 month old son from chewing on the inside of his cheeks he will do this constantly and he bleeds?
Yes: Eggs are a very god source of protein for this age group, and in general, they can have a higher percentage of their calories from fat, so the cholesterol is not really a problem. However, if you have a strong family history of dyslipidemia or high cholesterol, I would watch just in general foods high in saturated fats - don't get your child used to and craving these flavors. ...Read more
I suppose but. ..: It is important not to interest a pre-verbal child in a medicine treat. I don't know how many stomachs I've pumped in kids who told me they found treats in grandma's purse. If you are interested in vitamins there are many liquid otc forms you can give until the kid is old enough to be taught about medicine safety. If you use them, avoid the treat label. ...Read more
It depends: Most children in the 1st few years of life have 8-10 viral infections per year. The first year in daycare, that number can be higher. A fever is a temp >101 F. See a doc if the fever is >101 >2-3 days or he is acting sicker ...Read more

My 20 month old son sleeps all night but does not want anything for breakfast in the morning? Is that normal?
How can I get my 20 month old son to stop biting on the inside of his cheeks he does this constantly and he bleeds?
Biting cheeks: This is a tough one. I'd start by making sure he is not iron deficient/anemic by checking a hgb, serum iron and ferritin. Almost could be a pica type illness where he feels need to eat non-nutritive substances. Also see dentist to make sure no malocclusion of teeth leading to grinding and biting. He may also be able to suggest a mouth guard of some type to make the biting difficult. ...Read more
