What does 90% percentile in infant head circumference mean?

Relative study: His rating means that 10% of infants at this age have a larger head circumference (size) while 90% are smaller. If the size has increased from 25-50-75-90% over several months it would suggest growth was too rapid. If usually in that range, it just means the kid has a big head.It hasn't bothered me any, except for having trouble finding a helmet/hat that would fit.. ...Read more

Hi my 9 week old sons head circumference measures 16 inches he weighs 11pounds 8ounces, is that in the normal range for head measurement.

Hi my 9 week old sons head circumference measures 16 inches he weighs 11pounds 8ounces, is that in the normal range for head measurement.

Head circumference: A head circumference of 16 inches at 9 weeks places him at the 95% for his age and sex. This is considered normal. I don't have a height, but his weight is about the 85%, so it seems from that he is generally a big boy. The more important factor, however, is interval growth from visit to visit. If he's always been at the 25% and suddenly is at 95%, that's more concerning than if he is always 95%. ...Read more

What is the average head circumference for a 6 month old girl?

What is the average head circumference for a 6 month old girl?

It is just a number: Around 42 cm (16-17 in). The number is somewhat meaningless from a medical standpoint... sort of like hair color. If one asks, "What is the average hair color of a 6 year-old girl", the answer is a meaningless color. Head circumference percentiles are compared to the percentiles of the parent's head sizes. Thus, if the parents have smaller heads, we don't worry about their babies' smaller heads. ...Read more

What's the average penis size for a 16 yr old (length&Circumference)?

Male puberty: Review of literature: mean stretch penile length at 1 year of age is 3.75 cm (+/- 0.54 cm) increases to 4.84 cm by late childhood then to 9.5 cm (+/-1.12 cm) by late puberty. This number reflects mostly white population. The penile length is rarely used to evaluate puberty because it is not accurate and not an early event for onset of puberty. Length and volume of testicle is more accurate ...Read more

My baby is in 75% percentile height and 25percentile weight.6 month old boy.17 lb at and 27.5 inch height.is it normal?

Tough word - normal: Being thin and tall is perfectly fine if the child is growing along their growth curves normally. Make sure your pediatrician or FP doctor is measuring height and weight and plotting them on a growth curve. If the baby odd changing percentiles over time, you may need to intervene with nutritional or medical help. Check with your doctor on this ! ...Read more

10 week old baby length and weight both 85th percentile. Head circumference 95th percentile. Does this mean he has a big head in proportion to body?

10 week old baby length and weight both 85th percentile. Head circumference 95th percentile. Does this mean he has a big head in proportion to body?

Not really: I don't consider that difference worth anything more than noting. Big babies are big all over and this falls within the normal variation of such measurements. If the kid was 50% weight/length and 95% head, I would just measure the parents head to see where baby inherited it from. There are other issues to consider with a big head, but not from the reported info. ...Read more

Small head circumference and low weight percentile mean failure to thrive?

Consistent growth along that or any percentile is not necessarily a failure to thrive. However;infants starting at the 25% & moving down to the 10% months later & heading toward the 5% in such measurements would be considered ftt because if the drop in growth rate. ...Read more
