Does a 10mg does of aventyl (nortriptyline) have side effects or is it fairly safe? i have been told this dose is very mild.
Will a 10mg dose of aventyl (nortriptyline) have the cardiac side effects that come as a warning? if so will a reduced dose help?
In some people YES: In my experience an extremely small percentage of people with adversely react to 10 mg. of Aventyl (Nortriptyline). In fact, that is precisely why I titrate nortriptyline starting at 10mg. and escalate SLOWLY by only 10mg. weekly when treating my headache patients just to be able and gauge potentially intolerable side effects. Only handful in over 25 years who have major disaster at lowest dose ...Read more
I struggle with ocd/negative thoughts constantly. would a low dose of aventyl (nortriptyline) help this? what other medications help?
Not really.: Aventyl or Pamelor may help with depression and anxiety but the standard of treatment of OCD is usually a higher than usual dosage of antidepressants such as Prozac, Zoloft, Luvox, Anafranil, Paxil (paroxetine) or Lexapro. You and your psychiatrist may have to work diligently as to what medication and dosage will control your OCD. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

No: Nortriptyline and Neuron tin can help with neuropathic pain but are not pain killers. They work best if you take it everyday. My doc wants to put me on low dose aventyl (nortriptyline) for migraine 'aura' and anxiety, but i hear it has some nasty side effects. any medication that is safer?
Similar medicines: Medicines similar to aventyl are amitriptyline and nortriptyline. They have been around longer, and they are often used to prevent migraines, but they may not be as effective for mood. If you do not have a migraine aura often (2x/wk) you do not need a preventer. There are many other options for anxiety if you do not fancy this medicine. ...Read more
Milk allergy/intoler: Gas is more likely due to milk or lactose intolerance. A large glass of milk, buttermilk or even yogurt can cause gas or bloating and gurgling in the abdomen. Cheese, except aged cheese, can also cause intolerance. Allergic reactions can come faster and may include hives, nasal and chest symptoms soon after ingesting milk products. There is lot of confusion about this subject. ...Read more
Very rare: Allergic reactions to Ativan (lorazepam) and other benzodiazapines are quite rare. Hives or other skin eruptions sometimes occur, but seldom and may related to fillers in the tablet/capsule rather than to the medication itself. Side effects, especially at higher doses are more common and included drowsiness, slowed thinking, slurred speech--think effects of alcohol. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

The larger the airway, the less chance of problems and there is no association with asthma/allergies. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 11 month old was just stung by a hornet. There are no signs of allergy but he's really fussy now. ?
Of course!: I get fussy when i get stung by those things too. Clean the area with rubbing alcohol. Some say that applying meat tenderizer will neutralize the venom, but there's no real data, and it's probably too late for that anyway. He'll be fine - but if he shows any signs of allergy (like trouble breathing) call your doc or 911j. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Just tried alimentum with 7 week old. What signs to look for in the next day or two to test for allergy?
Confusing question: The alumentum consists of elemental proteins in a blended mix, a process that mimics digestion. The babies system cannot react to these like they would bovine or soy protein that are in their original state. You would expect the kid to settle down digestion in the 3-4 days it takes for the previous formula to exit the system. The powder form has some corn solids a kid can still have problems with. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
