What to do if I have hypertension and take avalide which is part diuretic?

What to do if I have hypertension and take avalide which is part diuretic?

Hypertension: Avalide contains same blood pressure medication (Irbesartan) as in Avapro plus weak diuretic (water pill), Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ). HCTZ may lower potassium while Irbesartan may increase potassium, thus canceling out each other's potential side effect. Monitor your blood pressure at home (after resting/keeping still) at least 5 minutes) and bring in BP cuff for calibration. Go see ur family doc ...Read more

My insurance will only pay for diovan, yet the doctor prescribed avalide. What is the difference?

My insurance will only pay for diovan, yet the doctor prescribed avalide. What is the difference?

The price.: Avalide and Diovan are similar drugs from the same class called "angiotensin receptor blockers"; the only real difference is the price (Avalide is more expensive). Ask your doctor if there is a reason that he/she prescribed Avalide instead of diovan, and if so, does it justify the higher price? ...Read more

I was prescribed cheplixen 3 500 mg 3 times a day but without relazing ive been taking them four times a day.. am I ok? Or am I hurting myslef

Cephalexin?: I've not heard of "cheplixen", can't find it on line. Do you mean the antibiotic cephalexin? If so, you're actually now taking the normal amount. Cephalexin is usually prescribed in a dose of 500 mg 4 times daily. For sure it won't hurt anything. But contact the doctor's office where it was prescribed. You might run out sooner than expected, and might need more drug to complete treatent. ...Read more

What does goldenseal root do? - and how much are you suppose to take ? (520 mg) capsule form

Goldenseal: I agree with dr. Baker's reply. Doses of 0.5-1g of goldenseal tablets or capsules have been used 3 times/day. However, what are you wanting to accomplish through taking this herb? Your info does not mention any kind of infection. Some people have suggested it can help in obscuring urine drug test results, but research data does not support this idea. ...Read more
