But these are somewhat ill-defined & each encompasses a broad spectrum of levels of function. Consult specialist: Ad kids have many quirky habits of daily living. Odd tastes in foods, self stimming behaviors, erratic bedtimes. Smelling stuff. The child's age is important here as well. Treat bedtime as you would any other behavior you wish to modify. A behavioral therapist can help. Medications may be useful. Special Education : Are special education services for children with autism available?These include speech/language & occupational therapy as well as behavioral therapy. Ask his slt if he has joint attention, the ability to share interest in an object or event with another person, as this precedes social communication. It could be a sign : Of a problem but does not have to be. Some kids are idiopathic toe walkers. Are there any other signs of developmental delay? Try putting heel lifts in the shoes, but would recommend a neurology consult. (pediatric neurologist). ...Read more
