Do cell phones mess with brain waves?

Do cell phones mess with brain waves?

Not directly: The message, not the messenger, is more likely to affect your brain function. Power emission of cell phones is so low that alteration of brain electrical activity will not occur. Despite media concern, many studies have failed to conclusively document increase of brain tumors in cell phone users. The content of the phone call will affect your brain activity much more strongly than the phone. ...Read more

Does Zika virus affects toddlers brain development?

Does Zika virus affects toddlers brain development?

Unknown: Rapid changes in size & number of nerve cells occur during early pregnancy & the germ targets developing cells. They kill them & the brain does not grow.Without brain mass the skull doesn't enlarge as fast =microcephaly. Many adults & older kids have few if any symptoms with zika. It is likely that toddlers could be more susceptible since their brain is still growing but we have little info yet ...Read more

Can binural beats harm our brain?

Can binural beats harm our brain?

Entrainment: Binaural beats is a form of brain entrainment. Reported risks include precipitating a seizure, occasionally headaches, dizziness but for most people its fine with a 10-15min a day. Some studies have shown that with similar practices over long periods of time, high-amplitude gamma-band oscillations and phase-synchrony can be induced. No one knows the long term effects. ...Read more

Can Ct Scan damage brain , effect activity of brain?

Can Ct Scan damage brain , effect activity of brain?

No: The x ray radiation in a CT has no measurable or known effect on neural tissues. 1) dose is way too low and 2) nerves are relatively radioresistant since the cells don't reproduce very fast, if at all. There is a theoretical risk of cataracts and cancer years later, but this is incredibly small esp. for a single scan and controversial anyway. ...Read more

My son has cerebral palsy, autism, mental retardation, catatonic schizophrenia, seizures, & no lower left lope of brain what is his life expectancy?

Who knows!: So sorry about your son. All of his conditions you could think might cause a shorter life span for all sorts of reasons, but with good care one never knows. Accidents, poor nutrition ( because he doesn't eat well), progressive brain deterioration if repeated seizures, infections, general stress with its harmful physical effects, all could contribute to premature death. Best of luck! ...Read more

Can an EEG (electroencephalogram) detect brain tumors?

No: Eeg can show presence of seizure brain wave activity. These seizure brain activity can be caused by different conditions such as metabolic abnormality, lack of blood supply to brain cells, medication, epilepsy, brain tumor related, etc. It analyzes the brain "function" not the anatomy thus it can't detect brain tumor specifically. Mri needs to be done to detect brain tumors. Discuss with your md. ...Read more

Tics? If all the : Studies were normal, remember that 11% of children with ASD have tics. The latest studies show that kids with adhd who develop tics on the stimulants methylphenidate (concerta) ; amphetamines usually have an underlying tic disorder, so the meds unmask tics rather than induce them. Compulsions? Maybe, but usually not myoclonic. Adding Intuniv for adhd may reduce them, if they are complex tics. ...Read more
