Yes and no?: While we have a fairly thorough understanding of how the brain works by no means do we or are we meant to understand all of its new wants details. The frontal lobes deal with emotions and short-term memory. Therefore people can function and survive without portions of those areas, however there would definitely be some measurable subjective differences compared to someone who did not have that portion of the brain removed.
