Where would u have child's MRI w/sedation- children's hospital outpatient center or hospital? Imaging director said only difference is no "code team"?
Hard to say: Many facilities are unique in their approach to this issue and follow strict guidelines on who is present for such a study. In my area they require an anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist be present whose only job is tending to the patient continuously. A code team down the hall doesn't seem better than a one on one with the leader of such a team. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Would there be a narrow range of diagnoses for an ED patient who had 14 diagnostic lab tests, 1 unk diagnostic test at cost of $3k? Food poisoning?
What is the question: You went to an emergency room for some illness and expected to be diagnosed without testing? You are lucky you were only charged $3, 000. It could have been a great deal more. Ers are abused, overused and populated by large numbers of people who never pay and cannot be turned away by law. Those who can pay foot the bill for those who cannot . This is why we need major revision to med care. ...Read more
Are the asbergers free screening exams online considered reputable in regards to recommending further testing?
Depends: Screening tools are, by definition, meant to miss few possible candidates, which means that they often are oversensitive, so pick up people who are just fine as well as those with problems. If you or your child is having chronic, impairing social difficulties and one of the screens seems to suggest asperger's disorder as a possibility, it would not be unreasonable to seek further evaluation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Difficult matter: This test is only useful when it is Abnormal. But it does not help at all when it is normal panel(which means there is no abnormaility found but it does not exclude any diagnosis because there is nothing predictable about a paraneoplastic panel). So you can not say it is false negative . it is designed to be useful only if it shows an abnormality that supports a clinical diagnosis of cancer . ...Read more

Why?: If you need to confirm a genital herpes diagnosis, or if you have atypical complaints and want to know if you have HSV or something else, or you suspect that you are an asymptomatic carrier or at particular risk for hsv, it's probably worth the expense. But if you just want to know if it's type 1 or type 2, the treatment is the same either way, so there is no point. ...Read more
See below: As with most tests, you would initially want something with a high sensitivity and then high specificity. For anyone who knows about medi-cal? Does medi-cal cover CT scans if referred from gp? Online it says "covers lab tests and x-rays) .
