Allergies occur when your immune system is triggered by envirionmental factors it should ignore--for example, pollen in the air, or dander on a cat or dog--and creates cells to fight against them. An allergic reaction typically causes itching, congestion, or drainage, and ...Read more
I have allergy to benzocaine. This week I had a rxn to a dental anesthetic, swelling of cheek & throat. How long should I take Benadryl? Need tests?
PAINFUL blisters in mouth & vagina due to Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) allergy. Ok to put benzocaine cream on outer vag, offers a little relief. What else can I use? Help!
Symptomatic relief: is best after discussion with your PCP or doctor. Make sure this is documented in your chart as ALLERGY TO BACTRIM/SULFAS. The symptomatic relief is perhaps the best, like ice chips, no hot, spicy, foods. Keep it bland, hydrating, easy to digest as your entire throat may also be affected down to your gut. Tepid, soothing, nonstinging baths like Aveeno (oatmeal) may be helpful. No chemical shampoos or soaps. ...Read more

There is lot of confusion about this subject. ...Read more

It causes swelling below the vocal cords which then manifests itself physically with the signs of the croupy cough and occasionally inspiratory stridor (loud coarse breathing in). The larger the airway, the less chance of problems and there is no association with asthma/allergies. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 11 month old was just stung by a hornet. There are no signs of allergy but he's really fussy now. ?
Of course!: I get fussy when i get stung by those things too. Clean the area with rubbing alcohol. Some say that applying meat tenderizer will neutralize the venom, but there's no real data, and it's probably too late for that anyway. He'll be fine - but if he shows any signs of allergy (like trouble breathing) call your doc or 911j. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Just tried alimentum with 7 week old. What signs to look for in the next day or two to test for allergy?
Confusing question: The alumentum consists of elemental proteins in a blended mix, a process that mimics digestion. The babies system cannot react to these like they would bovine or soy protein that are in their original state. You would expect the kid to settle down digestion in the 3-4 days it takes for the previous formula to exit the system. The powder form has some corn solids a kid can still have problems with. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
