How long does it take a ten day course of Augmentin 875-125 to leave your system? I finished the medication seven days ago.
Definitely out: The medication has quite a short half-life, which is why it is taken 2x a day- since the first dose in the morning wears away, then you need a second dose. Generally we think of 5x the half-life as a 'complete' elimination of the drug - so you are well beyond that... it would have been totally gone after a couple days. If you're having symptoms of some kind though, you should check with a doc. ...Read more
I have taken Augmentine for the last seven days. Do you recommend Enterogermina? I am in Viet Nam and sacch. Yeast isn't available. Thx
Anecdotal accounts: Have shown some efficacy in Enterogermina, though a Google perusal of trials only saw 2 trials, one in 1985 and another in 2007 (ENIGMA) that did not post results though concluded in 2009. Enterogermina uses Bacillus clausii and/or subtilis in re-establishing balance in the colon after a exterminating event (such as diarrhea or antibiotics). Overall some physicians have reported good results. ...Read more
I finish taking augmentin on Wednesday night. I was just wondering how long does the medicine last in your body. If I only took it for 4 days.?
Hello I accidentally mixed up my augmentin dose. Got 1 extra pill after 2 hrs of final dose...should I be worried? (Currently taking 2x1g pills/day)
I have been taking augmentin twice a day for six days now (875 mg). Tomorrow morning (10am) is my last dose. Can I have a few beers tomorrow night?
OK in moderation: Contrary to common belief, alcohol in moderation does not interfere with antibiotics. You needn't have avoided beer or other alcohol because of this treatment and certainly can safely have 3-4 beers at this time. Just don't overdo it -- heavy alcohol can impair the immune system's ability to fight infections. ...Read more
Son has strep & on augmentin, now my husband has it too, starting Augmentin today, can family members keep reinfecting each other? How do we stop this
Take Meds until gone: To improve elimination of germs. Disinfectant common areas in the house, esp. Faucets and toilets. Use separate eating utensils, do frequent hand washing, avoid kissing or hand to mouth contact. Get new tooth brush. Strep is not as contagious as most viruses where a simple sneeze can linger in the air, but strep can remain viable on surfaces over 24 h from mouth to hand to contact. ...Read more
Resistance suspected: Some germs 'don't respond' to an empiric course of antibiotics. You need proper evaluation with a urinary culture. That will give a 'road map' for what antibiotics can be used... Sometimes there's more to a male UTI compared to a female urinary infection. The anatomy is different (of course) and there could be other factors. If your primary doc can't handle it, you may need a urologist. ...Read more
