OK in moderation: Contrary to common belief, alcohol in moderation does not interfere with antibiotics. You needn't have avoided beer or other alcohol because of this treatment and certainly can safely have 2-3 beers at this time. Just don't overdo it -- heavy alcohol can impair the immune system's ability to fight infections. ...Read more

Hello, can i take augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) if i already took a complete dose in about a month and a half ago ? Will it be effective?

Likely correct: Usually we do not repeat the same antibiotic if already received by a patient just a few weeks ago since there is a good likelihood that either the initial treatment did not eradicate but only suppress the bacterial growth or that any new infection would likely be resistant to that antibiotic. Diesel vs gasoline: Diesel fuel won't run a gasoline or electric engine car. Likewise, unless we choose the right antibiotic, we won't cure the infection. For instance, common colds are due to viruses which aren't affected by antibiotics. So if infection/fever persists, return to prescribing doc for further evaluation or see your FamilyDoc. ...Read more
