Augmentin Pediatric Dose
I have been taking augmentin twice a day for six days now (875 mg). Tomorrow morning (10am) is my last dose. Can I have a few beers tomorrow night?
OK in moderation: Contrary to common belief, alcohol in moderation does not interfere with antibiotics. You needn't have avoided beer or other alcohol because of this treatment and certainly can safely have 2-3 beers at this time. Just don't overdo it -- heavy alcohol can impair the immune system's ability to fight infections. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Hello, can i take augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) if i already took a complete dose in about a month and a half ago ? Will it be effective?
Likely correct: Usually we do not repeat the same antibiotic if already received by a patient just a few weeks ago since there is a good likelihood that either the initial treatment did not eradicate but only suppress the bacterial growth or that any new infection would likely be resistant to that antibiotic. YOu need to talk to your doctor about your concern. ...Read more
Prescribed augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 875 mg today to take 2x/day. I took first pill at 5pm. Can I take the second dose tonight or is that too close to the first dose?
Either way is OK: It does't matter much. If you're an early riser, you can wait until morning, not much more than 12 hours after the first dose. If that means delaying later than about 7 am, take it at bedtime tonight. An early dose won't hurt anything. ...Read more
My daughter has a low grade temperature (100.3), and she has 3 doses left of Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) that was prescribed. How can she have a temperature?
Diesel vs gasoline: Diesel fuel won't run a gasoline or electric engine car. Likewise, unless we choose the right antibiotic, we won't cure the infection. For instance, common colds are due to viruses which aren't affected by antibiotics. So if infection/fever persists, return to prescribing doc for further evaluation or see your FamilyDoc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
