Minastrin 24 and Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 875 will I still be protected with my birth control seeing it is a combination bill I am a little nervous about pregnancy?

Possibly: There is some suggestion that amoxicillin can decrease the effect of the ethinyl estradiol component of minastrin. But overall there is limited data to suggest any significant contraception compromise. In the end, you'll still be best served by using a second form of birth control like condoms while using the two medications together. Best of luck. ...Read more

If I am taking augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) for 2 weeks for sinusitis while on Mononessa (birth control) could that cause me to ovulate and/or breakthrough spotting?

Spotting: Clavulanate can interfere with effectiveness of birth control medication and it is quite possible that it has interacted with the hormone and decreased its effective concentration in your blood which has caused you to spot. This is also why it is always advisable to use a backup method of birth control while on such antibiotics. ...Read more

Normal to change: Plan B contains a big dose of progesterone, so it would not be unusual that after taking Plan B that spotting would occur and may interfere with the next cycle or two. If you keep taking your regular BCP's regularly, things should stabilize in a month or two.
