Dad is prescribed ativan twice daily at. 5mg with effexor, (venlafaxine) under supervision of his family physician. Is ativan twice daily ok for the body?
Maybe (not). . .: Doesn't matter who prescribes medication if it's not for right reason at right dose for right duration. Also depends upon possible interaction w/other medications & conditions. Age, weight & even overall health are important variables. Elderly are often less able to tolerate benzodiazepines like Ativan (lorazepam) which increase risk for confusion, falls & fractures. But it may also be worth risk. Ask his doc. ...Read more
Taking Wellbutrin and Effexor (venlafaxine).I have Ativan on hand as a in case of emergency however I don't find it effective. Are there alternatives I can ask for?
Review w/ prescriber: Venlafaxine can increase risk of Wellbutrin (bupropion) such as rare risk of seizures; combo requires close monitoring. This limits dose of Wellbutrin and thus possibility of achieving sufficient dose to address condition. Prescriber may review your current symptom status and develop a more effective regimen. Non-med anxiety management measures can be very helpful addition. Best regards for relief ...Read more
