Ativan Half Life
Carefully: Ativan (lorazepam) is a valium derivative that is used for anxiety, tension, and for seizures. The side effect is sleepiness. Low doses are usually well tolerated and will relax you and allow usual function. Higher doses will put you to sleep. Understand why you are using it. Balance the benefit to the side effects. ...Read more
I was on ativan (lorazepam) 6 mg for 15 days how long will the half life last i heard only a day or two?
More Information?: Please re-ask this question with some context on why you are asking. There is nothing about the half life of benzodiazepine medications on their own. If you are asking about testing then the average urine screening for benzos can easily pick these up for six weeks after the last use, regardless of the 'half life' of the medication. ...Read more

Which is better for someone with severe anxiety that effects thir entire life. Xanax (alprazolam) or ativan? Which would help most.
For severe anxiety: I would not be relying only on pharmaceuticals, but would also want to work on the specific anxieties the patient has. Cognitive therapy, mindfulness meditation, dynamic psychotherapies, all help the person learn about his/her own triggers and ways of dealing with them. Ssri antidepressants seem better at preventing panic attacks than episodic benzodiazepines (whether using xanax (alprazolam) or ativan). ...Read more
Is it OK to take 300mg Gastrodin twice a day from life extension along with 0.5 MG as needed Ativan (lorazepam) script? I read Gastrodin increases GABA.
Should be: Unfortunately dietary supplements are regulated as a food and not a drug - so you can't really trust the dosage on the label from most brands. As such, it's hard to say whether there will be an interaction or not. I can say that lorazepam increases the activity of the GABA system, so I'm unsure why you'd need both? Hope that helps! ...Read more
Other than half life and peak times how do klonopin (clonazepam) and ativan actually differ? Can klonopin (clonazepam) be used also as a mood stabilizer as in other countries
No evidence: I looked online and could find no evidence that Klonopin (clonazepam) can act as a mood stabilizer. I have a practice of about 800 outpatients. A large number of them are bipolar with a variety of anxiety disorders comorbidly. I also do not shy away from high doses when necessary. I don't believe that i've ever seen a mood stabilizing effect from klonopin (clonazepam). I do believe that there've been a few times that I have seen klonopin (clonazepam)have more of a depressing effect on the mood if anything. Best wishes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Doc said i will need 2 be on a benzo such as ativan, (lorazepam) the rest of my life bc it's the only thing that controls my anxiety. Will this affect my career?
I am concerned: Your note says you're only 18 years old. If this is true, i'm very concerned about a doctor telling you that you need to be on Ativan (lorazepam) or other benzodiazepine for the rest of your life. That's a really long time! there may be other, much safer and even more effective treatments for you -- if you consider getting a second opinion from a psychiatrist. Have you thought about that? Be well, . ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Yes: Ativan (lorazepam) is a benzodiazipine, this class of meds can be addicting, even small doses used over an extended period of time can be very difficult to stop. Some people take them as prescribe and find it very hard to stop, others can be more overtly addicted and continue to take higher and higher doses. In general best for short term use only. Try to avoid if history of addiction like alcohol. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

It is in a class of medications known as benzodiazepines which share similar properties such as valium, klonopin, xanax, (alprazolam) and Librium the advantage is that it works quickly, but the risks are developing a physical dependence (tolerance over time and withdrawal when stopping it) or an addiction. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Sedative: Fairly immediate onset benzodiazepine, the class of drugs that are used to reduce anxiety, sedate or put to sleep, also used for seizures (to stop them quickly) and sometimes for dizziness or nausea because of the sedation, but also can cause amnesia. Sometimes used to relax muscles but the reason is because of the CNS sedation. Useful, but very addictive. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
