Very, very minimal: A very small amount of low % alcohol - beer, wine on a special occasion may be ok, but there are moderately risky effects of mixing these. You may lower blood pressure too much (your Rx mix already can do it) and you may be dizzy, faint or make errors - do not drive! Try to find a better way to enjoy yourself. ...Read more

Why?: I am not sure why you would need to take two different benzodiazapines at the same time. Both have potential to build tolerance. I would not prescribe both at the same time to a patient, however different providers select different options. Please discuss this fully with your prescribing provider. Take care. ...Read more

You also may find operating a motor vehicle more challenging when taking xanax (alprazolam) with any medications. ...Read more

I am on wellbutrin, ativan, atorvastatin, escitalopram, lisinopril, abilify (aripiprazole). Can i take propranolol for anxiety/bp?
Use a low dose: Both escitalopram and wellbutrin (bupropion) inhibit liver metabolism (which is how Propranolol is metabolized) and both will result is a stronger Propranolol effect. Define doses used: Dangerous? You mean as in "can kill a person?" Or do you mean to the point where you could pass out, hit your head and have to go to the hospital for a few stitches? .5mg of sedoxil or .25 of Xanax (alprazolam)?which is best when anxiety is acting up?Im on atenolol 25mg daily.
Neither: Nowadays we don't use benzos alone in treatment of Anxiety D/O's. We use medications that regulate anxiety & add a small dosage of Clonazepam (at our center we start with 0.125mg , & it works). Xanax (alprazolam) is short acting & we don't use because of inter-dose withdrawal & increase in baseline anxiety. Sedoxil (Mexazolam ) is not available in US, very long acting and leads to accumulation. Feel better. ...Read more
