Ate granola bars w/ brown rice syrup daily (sometimes 2/day) including when pregnant. Worried about arsenic (also ate cereal with rice daily).?
Likely not an issue: The reports linking rice consumption to arsenic has scared many folks, but the data is not completely clear. For the most part i would not worry especially for an adult, unless rice intake was much, much greater than described. To lessen exposure:rinse rice thoroughly before cooking, be sure water supply levels are low, cook/drain like pasta(^ parts to 1 water to rice), or use basmati or jasmine rice. ...Read more

18w preg. & cooked pasta earlier, put pasta in plastic strainer & then back in the pot, strainer melted quite a bit, still ate pasta, did i hurt baby?
No: We live in a toxic world, so eating a meal out of a heat-deformed plastic container (such as microwaving a container of food) does not add a noticeable amount of toxins to the amount of toxins we experience on a normal daily basis. That being said, still try to avoid getting extra toxins. ...Read more

How long does salmonella live on a roll of foil? Baked chicken last week, touched foil, using same roll of foil today to bake cinnamon rolls.
Salmonella: These germs can survive for weeks on surfaces if you read the text books. From what you describe however, there was no evidence that the raw chicken had Salmonella to begin with, and the nature of the contact seems sketchy as well. The good news is that ordinary stomach acid kills most 'exposures' to Salmonella (as does cooking!). If you have further concerns, talk to a doc about it. ...Read more

3 months pregnantusedlysol cleaning wipe, opened milk carton before hands washed. Residue from wipe maybe on carton i drank from. Should i be concerned?
Only enough to learn: How awful it tastes! in small amounts it is not poisonous even to infants/toddlers, so you probably are okay. It's unlikely that your being pregnant changes that - but you can call poison control to be sure. Although we all do it from time to time, the bigger risk could be drinking from a milk carton. It's a place that bacteria might be quite happy and also a way to share germs with other folk. ...Read more
