Do autistic traits increase with age, or do you have them all by the time you are in grade school?

Depends: Autism to me is metabolic and dietary. Undiagnosed food allergens, poor detoxification by liver with build up of environmental toxins and heavy metals and poorly functioning metabolic pathways are the culprits and need to be evaluated and treated. Does my double cleft palate have anything to do with the following problems I have always had problems speaking loud enough without getting out of breath. I'm prone to ear aches, and people ask me to repeat myself so much that i seldom talk to anyone outs

Does my double cleft palate have anything to do with the following problems I have always had problems speaking loud enough without getting out of breath. I'm prone to ear aches, and people ask me to repeat myself so much that i seldom talk to anyone outs

All : All of the problems you mentioned are related to your clefts. If you palate has not been repaired completely, you will have communication between your mouth and your nose. The escape of air will explain why speaking will get you out of breath. It also makes your speech sound nasal and hard to understand. There are tubes that vent the middle ear to the back of the throat. The cleft alters the muscles that prevent back flow into those tubes leading to frequent ear infections. The opening in your palate will allow whatever is in your mouth to leak out of your nose. The cleft causes a defect of the bone at the very back of your palate will fail to support the soft tissue allowing it to hang down and cause you to choke. The good news is that all of these problems can be improved with treatment. ...Read more

Can women with MS have babies while on treatment or do they have to stop ?

Suggestions: Most MS drugs do have potential for fetal malformations, and are thus "teratogenic" risks. Copaxone seems safest, and Aubagio and Gilenya (fingolimod) may be riskiest. But I would tend to stop any of the MS drugs prior to pregnancy and would NOT restart until after birth, unless breast feeding desired, which would delay restarting med. ...Read more

What causes kids to eat their snot and how can you stop this??? And unfortunately I've seen kids in their LATE TEENS supporting this habit!! Yuk!

Nose: Have you ever pondered why the fingers fit so perfectly up the nose? As soon as we get hand eye coordination, everything goes to the face. Perhaps that form of behavior was a protective mechanism that helped keep nostrils clean. Kids do gross things. They're curios and the younger ones still have oral tendencies. It will stop before they start middle school! ...Read more
