At Home Blood Test For Pregnancy
Is it possible to have a false negative blood test for pregnancy? I've had positive home pregnancy tests for 2 weeks but my blood test said negative
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Yes, but . . . : The pregnancy hormone, hcg, rises as the pregnancy grows, and falls if the pregnancy fails. So if you had a miscarriage, the pregnancy hormone level would drop. There is also such a thing as a "chemical pregnancy" which is a miscarriage that happens so early, that there is never any visible gestational sac by ultrasound. Lastly, you could have had a faulty batch of home pregnancy tests (unlikely). ...Read more
To have a blood test at the docters would that give u an early result of pregnancy or would it be the same as takin a home test?
See below:: Home pregnancy tests are usually accurate after you miss your period. A blood test is the most accurate way to detect pregnancy. Pregnancy hormone can be found in your blood a few days before your missed period. A blood pregnancy test is also useful in problem pregnancies such as ectopic pregnancies that don't make enough hormone to turn a home pregnancy test positive. Best Wishes! ...Read more
I am showing signs that i am pregnant but all home pregnancy tests and blood test come back negative?
Blood HCG test: If you had unprotected sex since your last period, missed your period by 5-7 days, did the test properly using first morning urine and it was negative, it is unlikely that you are pregnant. You may see your doctor for a blood HCG level that is more definitive. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Likely: Today's home preg tests can pick up very low levels of the preg hormone hcg. I consider those results reliable. If a result is questionable, repeating the test in a few days will be helpful. If there is some concern about the viability of a pregnancy then serial quantitative blood HCG levels would be helpful for diagnosis. ...Read more
If the home pregnancy test is positive and the blood test is negative is there still a chance of pregnancy?
Why do some women never test positive on a home pregnancy test?? Not blood test. Followed directions. 10 weeks since sex
Persistent neg uhCG: The reason is unclear. Clearly some forms of the hCG molecule do not respond to the antibodies in the preg test and it gives a negative result, which is clearly a false negative. That being said doesn't mean that your pregnancy is at all abnormal with a + blood test. I wouldn't be concerned over this. ...Read more

I have mirana and pregnancy symptoms I had negative test result both home test and blood test only being a week from concepetion to early to tell?
Is 8 days after unprotected sex enough time to detect pregnancy In a blood test ? I took a home test it came out negative but I feel so different
It depends...: In some cases a blood test may be positive as soon as 8 days after an egg is fertilized (which may not be until a few days after sex, depending on when you ovulate), but it usually takes 10-11 days after fertilization. A home urine test will generally be positive a few days after the blood test. ...Read more
I have been spotting for 1 day now going on 2(13days late w/ 2 positive at home pregnancy tests and a negative blood test. Could I still be pregnant?
Unclear if ever were: Urine pregnancy tests are very sensitive, but serum (blood) bHCG tests are even more sensitive, and are not prone to human error interpreting results like home urine pregnancy tests are. If your urine pregnancy tests were positive, but serum bHCGs test was negative on same day, then you were probably never pregnant. It really depends on timeline you did these tests. ...Read more
One week late, neg. Home tests and blood test today was negative but I have been having the same symptoms as in my first pregnancy. Cld i be pregnant?
Unlikely: The blood tests are very accurate so it's unlikely (though possible - but you would need to be very very early). Pregnancy symptoms are non-specific, meaning they are the same symptoms experienced with many different conditions (cramping, fatigue, nausea, - ovarian cysts can cause, GI problems can cause these, etc.). So the symptoms are suggestive, but not reliable in determining pregnancy. ...Read more
Fairly reliable: Home pregnancy tests are marketed with the oversight and approval of the fda. The use a proven technology, and if used correctly are usually reliable. Any laboratory test, even a blood test in a doctor's office or hospital, has a small false positive and small false negative rate. By "small" i mean very small in the case of pregnancy tests. ...Read more
