What vitamin supplements should one avoid when taking 75 mg plavix, two 81mg aspirin and 40mg crestor (rosuvastatin) daily?
High dose E BUT...: Vitamins are by definition essential for health so I'm wary of any drug that makes it necessary to avoid vitamins. The only vit. that interacts with these is Vit E, which in high doses thins blood so may increase risk of bleeding with Plavix (clopidogrel) & aspirin. However, this potential risk pales in comparison with the known hazards of combining Plavix (clopidogrel) & aspirin. Please see http://bit.ly/VHiLuH & my comment: ...Read more

Im 53 years of age im a female living with high blood pressure is enteric coated Tylenol (acetaminophen) safe?
Tylenol (acetaminophen): Apparently studies indicate Tylenol (acetaminophen) may be linked to some elevation in blood pressure and you monitor dosing. A toxic dose is > 4000 mg/day ( it is a liver toxin) so ask you doctor about use if you have liver disease and NO alcohol. ASA has not been linked to increase in HTN. Please discuss use with your doctor, as he knows about your HTN ...Read more
Depends on amount: Vitamin c is an essential vitamin. However, excessive amounts can lead to kidney stones, which could possibly affect your ckd. I would avoid taking any extra amounts of vitamin c, such as supplements/tablets, but the normal amount you get in your diet should be fine as long as you're not consuming excessive amounts. ...Read more
Maybe: The World Health Organization recommends 45 mg/day of vitamin C for healthy adults. Vitamin C is an antioxidant & some have recommended high doses to prevent disease & promote health. It does seem to be fairly well tolerated at high doses, though it may cause kidney stones or problems in those with certain gene changes. The biggest issue is that the evidence that it is truly beneficial is weak. ...Read more
Can't get too much C: VItamin C is extremely safe and not known to have a toxic dose. Many docs give up to 100,000 mg IV safely! Almost all mammals make Vitamin C. Other mammals our size manufacture about 5000 mg of C a day and likely have a good reason for doing so. I advise people take at least 500-2000 mg of Vit. C twice a day and all you can get from diet. Is taking vitamin E in special diet that contain around 400iu of it daily superior and better than taking vit e pill? For NASH or nafld? Bmi 19.5. 24y
What special diet: In general i approve of getting nutrients from our diets when possible but it's nearly impossible to get 400 iu of vit e from our diets. For example, 2 of the richest sources are almonds & sunflower seeds, but it takes nearly 2 1/2 pounds of these to supply that much e- not recommended- too much fat & calories! look for a natural vit e with mixed tocopherols.L-carnitine 1000 mg 2x/day also helps. ...Read more
