Does taking aspirin daily stop chest pain ? If so witch one is best to buy. ?

No: It depends. If you take low dose (81 mg), it reduces clotting which is implicated in heart attacks. If you take normal pain relieving doses (650-1,000 mg), it can stop muscular chest pain. Generic Aspirin works fine but be sure it's not out of date as it loses its potency. If you take full dose aspirin, be sure to take it with food so it doesn't irritate your stomach. ...Read more

Dull, cold chest pain near heart for 20 hours. No other symptoms. Gone after 4 tums (calcium carbonate) and 2 aspirin. Now back. Go to hospital or eat more tums (calcium carbonate)?

Dull, cold chest pain near heart for 20 hours. No other symptoms. Gone after 4 tums (calcium carbonate) and 2 aspirin. Now back. Go to hospital or eat more tums (calcium carbonate)?

Impossible to know: the wisest choice for sure. Pain away from central lower sternum less likely heart & tums (calcium carbonate) relief c/w reflux pain, yet can have multiple events simultaneously, can have angina without showing on blood tests, esp. EKG, & blood test signs (e.g. Troponin I) of heart muscle damage may not show for many hours. Best optimize NMR lipoproteins, HbA1c & Systolic BP, the primary drivers of arterial disease. ...Read more
