Aspirin Before Mri
Mri or magnetic resonance imaging is one of the more recently developed imaging modalities available to physicians. It uses powerful magnets to generate images. There is no ionizing radiation which is a major advantage over many other modalities. Mri is the best imaging exam that we have for most soft tissue and joint related problems. Not unusual: An MRI arthrogram is preformed usually injecting gadolinium and iodinated contrast. One could have allergy reaction to either. Pain after this study is rarely sever. Talk to doctor who did the study. Infection or blood in the joint could produce pain. Rather than taking a pain med do not overlook the possibility of an adverse reaction. If clear for adverse reaction any mild pain medicate is ok. ...Read more

Ischemic stroke 2006 aged 45 only now discovered. Misread mri. Aspirin 75mg affecting my stomach after taking it for 8 days should I continue? Thanks
Try with food: I would try taking the Aspirin with food, if this does not help do not resort to enteric coated aspirin. This form of Aspirin is poorly absorbed, and since your dosage is low, the amount absorbed would be insufficient for stroke protection. There is another agent available--clopidigrel (plavix), which is taken once daily. It is less irritating to the stomach, and carries the same risk of bleeding. ...Read more

Small white spot:
A single small white spot should not be cause for concern. It can be caused by high blood pressure. Since you have high blood pressure, it makes sense to use a little aspirin. We see white spots in 50% of our brain MRI's up here.
If you also have headaches, it is reasonable to have the MRA test. Otherwise I am not sure why this test was ordered. ...Read more

Cervical radiculopathy: Sounds like it could be related to a cervical radiculoapathy. Radiculopathy symptoms can wax and wane over the years causing a variety symptoms including numbness, pain, and weakness. Consider MRI of cervical spine and electrodiagnostic studies of the upper extremities. While a cervical radiculopathy can caused muscle spasms, you typically don't see 'spasticity'. Radiculopathy would be a lower motor neuron condition as opposed to upper motor neuron. Does the patient have increased reflexes and positive Hoffman's test? If so, consider MRI of the brain to rule out a lesion that may be causing these symptoms. ...Read more
