Aspirated Foreign Body Chest Congestion
My family and I have had recurrent cough/chest congestion and body aches over the past two months (every 2-3 weeks). Worrisome, or just the season?
Family illness: Why would this be "the seasons"? does this happen to your family every year at the same time for months? if not then it is likely an infection that your family is passing around to each member. You need to see the doctor as a family to help determine the cause and prescribe a treatment. This is not normal. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When a person breathes, only air should enter and exit from the lung. If a person were to take a breath, and inhale an object that is not air, it would be considered a "foreign body." This could be a piece of food or inanimate object such as a toy or coin. Depending on the size, it can get lodged high in the trachea or deeper in the bronchial tubes and usually causes ...Read more

Do : Do not know if this is from a viral infection. I cannot diagnose the cause. Ensure that you are getting lots of fluids (not soda, coffee or tea) like water. Get rest. Your temperature is fairly high. If your temp increases to 104 - then it is really important that you get seen. Even if it does not increase, if you have any chest tightness, chest pain, difficulty breathing, wheezing, you start bringing up colored sputum, the fever lasts more than a few days you need to get your lungs checked out. If you are not allergic to nsaid's consider use of Motrin or Aspirin to help bring down your fever. The fever is likely causing the generalized aches. A tepid bath can also help to bring down your temperature. Your temp is high enough, that you might have a loved one help you out, until you are doing better. If you take any turns for the worse - you need to get evaluated. Hope you feel better soon. ...Read more
I am battling chest congestion, annoying cough, high fever with body aches and chills. What could it be?
Could be pneumonia.: I don't recommend that you battle this all by yourself. You should see a doctor. If that's impractical--it is Christmas eve--I'm sure one of our Health Tap doctors would be happy to do a virtual consult with you. A full audiovisual consult is a better choice than a text only consult in a case like this. Sorry you're feeling so bad. -( ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
