Few side effects

Skin_irritation
The most common side effect to aspercreme would be local skin irritation. There is always chance for a systemic reaction but that would be rare. Overall Apercreme should be safe

Aspercreme ok for children?

I don't recommend it

Reye_syndrome
This is a topical product that contains salycilates. Although it is unlikely it would be absorbed in a significant amount, there is a possibility a kid could ingest some.We have not uses salycilates in kids under 16 for decades since their association with Reye syndrome.

Dr. Julia Sanchez answered:

Aspercreme help shingles pain?

Not best treatment

Herpes_zoster
It could help since it is an analgesic but it might not be the best treatment. If you have active shingles, please visit your doctor, he/she might recommend anti viral medication and anti inflammatory medications. If the pain is persistent after the rash is gone, topical lidocaine patches along with a nerve pain medication are the best course of treatment.

Dr. Michael Miller answered:

Does aspercreme or neosporin relieve severe sunburn pain on feet?

Better Ideas

Skin
Sunburn is response of the tissues to injury from solar radiation. It is simply inflammation which means increase blood flow to the area to promote healing. Do not use ice as this can injure already injured skin. Cool water soaks can help as can taking anti-inflammation medicines like Motrin or Advil. Avoid any further damage as this can cause scarring . Good skin cream applied daily/gently helps

Penile implant 10/30 - pain and skin cracking w/dead skn. Body lotion&/or aspercreme? Any other recons/tips welcome for pain free recovery thx

This sound normal

Skin
For a few weeks after surgery, there is increased skin turn-over in areas affected. This can mean you may shed like a lizard. Use a good moisturizing lotion to lessen the problem. If there is truly dead skin, your doctor needs to be involved to insure good healing. Vaseline is a good moisturizer but if too greasy use a lanolin-based cream.

my 3 year old granddaughter rubbed aspercream all over her face and arms can this harm her?

Aspirin Aspercreme

Head-face
First of all, wash the addected areas well with soap and water. Then call poison control - 1-800-222-1222. Chances are great that it won't hurt her provided she has no influenza symptoms currently. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH MEDICATIONS WHEN THERE ARE YOUNGER CHILDREN IN THE HOUSE. ALWAYS KEEP THEM LOCKED AND OUT OF THEIR REACH.
