Which synthetic estrogen is safest, Estradiol Valerate, Mestranol, or Ethinyl Estradiol?

Synthetic meds: 1st no such thing as free lunch ie there's always some potential risk or side effect. 2nd FDA only approves meds which they deem benefit greater than risk (tho obviously not w/o disagreement & controversy). 3rd no studies demonstrate benefit of any oral estrogen over another tho some studies suggest topical safe than oral. 4th Natural isn't safe than synthetic ie tobacco is natural but isn't safe! ...Read more

Does exercise affect estradiol + estrone: progesterone ratio?

Yes: Any of these hormones can be affected by exercise. What matters most is the amount of fat you have in your body, because fat stores estrogen, which can affect the signaling for ovulation in your body, which can really affect the amount of progesterone that would be found on a blood test. ...Read more

Evista (raloxifene) estrogen receptor for uterine cancer?

Evista (raloxifene) estrogen receptor for uterine cancer?

Unclear Question?: These are somewhat unrelated questions which makes it difficult for me to address your question. Estrogen receptors are specialised protein receptors found in breast cancer.Uterine cancer has little bearing on either of the two references you have listed. ...Read more

Is estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone) a biochemical hormone?

Is estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone) a biochemical hormone?

Yes...: ...But perhaps you mean bioidentical. All hormones are biochemicals. Estratest (esterified estrogens and methylestosterone) is a combination of methyltestosteone, which is synthetic and not the same as your own testosterone, and mixed estrogen hormones which are excreted by pregnant mares in their urine. These hormones are similar to, but not identical to, natural human hormones. ...Read more

Does Effexor (venlafaxine) raise shbg (sex hormone binding gobulin) levels?

Does Effexor (venlafaxine) raise shbg (sex hormone binding gobulin) levels?

Interesting question: I have not found any publications specifically studying this question. Antipsychotics and Prozac (fluoxetine) can affect prolactin, potentially changing sex hormone levels. This may or may not relate to shbg levels, though. I did find one small (20 patients) study online concerning low testosterone levels and antidepressant-induced sexual dysfunction: http://tinyurl.Com/mk84cfr further research needed. ...Read more

Will melatonin or prometrium (micronized progesterone) raise prolactin?

Will melatonin or prometrium (micronized progesterone) raise prolactin?

Interesting question: Nocturnal secretion of melatonin has been shown to affect secretion of prolactin. To my knowledge melatonin can exacerbate mild hyperprolactinemia. The relationship between Progesterone and prolactin i think is more unclear. We know thatprogesterone can affect prolactin in various ways. I'm curious to know in what context you would like to know the answer to this question? ...Read more
