Is it too late to heal bruises with arnica gel?

Is it too late to heal bruises with arnica gel?

How late?: I'm not sure how old the bruises are? Depending on this, arnica gel may help some. It's also helpful for swelling and soreness. It's very important to investigate the reason for your bruising, though. Were you injured? Bruising can also come from systemic bleeding problems, and arnica may not address those. ...Read more

Arnica, although controversial has been suggested to lessen swelling and bruising after a facelift. Is it too late to start the tablets and/ or gel at 72 hours post surgery?

Arnica, although controversial has been suggested to lessen swelling and bruising after a facelift. Is it too late to start the tablets and/ or gel at 72 hours post surgery?

Arnica best before: While the evidence is not very convincing, arnica (an herbal homeopathic product) may help with swelling and bruising from surgery. It seems to work best if started before surgery or right after, so at 3 days it probably won't do a lot of good. On the other hand, it is inexpensive and probably low risk. Be sure to talk to your plastic surgeon before starting any medications or supplements though. ...Read more

Arnica ointment good for fast healing bruises? Got a week old black eye. Went to the ER on 4th day. No fracture. Just want it to go away already. Help

For suckers only: No form of arnica is of any value for any condition. It is a complete waste of money. All homeopathy, by definition, is strictly placebo. It was invented before we had much medical science. Belief in this requires ignorance of science. ...Read more

Unclear: It is hard to tie these things together. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) can occasionally lower platelet counts which would make it easier to bruise. But if there is just one bruise and you are off the medication you might watch and see. If you continue to have bruising problems, have any bleeding, or are still concerned then see your doctor. ...Read more

4 days ago, I upped my zoloft (sertraline) dose from 18 mg to 25 mg. Been on zoloft (sertraline) a year. Today I noticed 5 bruises on my leg. Is this from zoloft (sertraline), or dance?

Possible side effect: Zoloft (sertraline) and other SSRI type meds can affect clotting time which may lead to bruising. Although this is an uncommon if not rare side effect, discuss with prescribing doctor for guidance. See: http://www. Wfh. Org/en/page. Aspx? Pid=639 I hope this helps. Best wishes. ...Read more

Largest dose of ibuprofen one can take for severe swelling on elbow from a bad fall with large angry spreading bruise? 600 or 800mg?

Largest dose of ibuprofen one can take for severe swelling on elbow from a bad fall with large angry spreading bruise? 600 or 800mg?

Ibuprofen: Generally speaking 800mg of ibuprofen is a maximal single dose which can be taken up to three times in a day. However use caution given the spreading bruise which suggests bleeding, as ibuprofen and other NSAIDS can lead to easy bleeding and perhaps worsen the situation. Tylenol (acetaminophen) may be a safer alternative for pain relief. Concern for fracture or more serious injury may warrant an x-ray. ...Read more

I started Avamys nasal spray 2 days ago. Since 10 hours after the 2nd dose I've had pain and bruising in the left side of my nose. What should I do?

Unexpected: It is not an expected side effect from using nasal steroid. Nonetheless you need to stop using it and ask your doctor to check your spraying technique and perhaps try a nasal antihistamine spray. I am also concerned as to whether you are having a severe sinus infection at the left as well. ...Read more

Could low dose asa therapy cause you to bruise more easily and to develop purple spots on skin? I am also on HRT and lotrel (amlodipine and benazepril) for hypertension.

Yes: That is a common effect of low dose Aspirin due to the inhibition of blood platelets. If your hypertension is well controlled it can still happen but is more likely if not controlled. As one gets older the skin gets thinner and capillaries get more fragile and tear easier which makes these bruises appear more often. ...Read more

Arnica for muscle inflammation?

Arnica for muscle inflammation?

Arnica: If this is local muscle inflammation, arnica cream can be applied topically. It is safe, but should not be applied to broken skin or open wounds. More generalized muscle inflammation needs constitutional homeopathic treatment -- and arnica may or may not be the indicated remedy. In that case the best idea would be collaborative care between conventional physician and skilled homeopath. ...Read more

Homeopathic remedies: I'm guessing you may have received this as a lotion or cream. It's a combination remedy which can be topically applied to sprains and bruises -- it may decrease pain, inflammation and bruising. Do not apply it to broken skin or open wounds. Thousands of them: There are literally thousands of good homeopathic medicines, but using the right one depends on the problem you're having. I believe you might mean Arnica montana, not "monata." 30C is stronger than 6C, but there may still be some of the original material in the 6C. This means the 6C can affect your system as a material quantity herbal medicine as well as a potentized homeopathic remedy. ...Read more
