After exposure, 3months HIV quali RNA test negative, not detected.4.5months HIV quick test and ELISA test negative. Are those tests all exclusive?
Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis). Thirdly by pcr (polymerase chain reaction) which ...Read more

Need details: A single nucleic acid test after the interval during which this becomes positive is proof enough that you are not infected. You're young. I trust you'll play safe from now on, and if you continue to have obsessive thoughts that you have become infected, sit down with your physician or someone who's trained in helping you get back into control of these unwanted and unhelpful thoughts. ...Read more

2 false pos ELISA HIV tests, all 1 1/2 years post exposure. Neg western blot, ifa, naat and 2 neg oraquick home tests. What is my HIV status? Help!
Likely negative: There is typically a "window" of 3-6 months after exposure where you could be HIV positive but test negative. Since you didn't get your testing until well after that, i'd say the confirmatory tests (western blot, ifa) are what you should go by. The elisa is very sensitive and can have false positives- that's why we rely on the confirmatory tests. I would consider your status to be negative. ...Read more
Immunochromatography rapid antibody test negative @42 days.Blood serum CMIA screening [email protected] days(7th week) is 0.15 non reactive. Results conclusive?
Tb skin test negative, quentform TB test negative, bone marrow biopsy results indicative of TB (reacts to ziehl niehlssen), PCR negative. How come?
No...actually: The zn stain is a broad stain for acid fast bacilli of which mycobacterium tuberculosis is one of many. The specific tests like quantiferon or the pcr test are against you having tb. The culture is the "gold standard" but you will need to wait for it. It might turn out be a cousin of TB and that too will grow out of culture. Stay on TB meds until they are certain of the AFB positive organism. ...Read more
Took HIV Antibody 1&2 Test and P24 Antigen test 10 days after PEP. Results non-reactive. A bit early. All other blood panel metrics normal. Thoughts?
Not conclusive: These results are reassuring; it is unlikely you were infected. However, the results are not conclusive. Following PEP, it is necessary to test for HIV longer than otherwise, maybe up to 4 months. (PEP is great when needed, but it prolongs the time of uncertainty about whether infection occurred.) Discuss with the clinic or doctor who prescribed the PEP and follow his or her advice. ...Read more
False positive ELISA HIV test.Neg western blot, neg ifa &naat.I've had 2 neg oraquick home test. Could i be an elite controller? Or already have aids?
blood test IGG 17.95 positive and IGM 8.50 negative. stool test was negative. do I infect with h.pylori?
Past infection: These results suggest past infection with H. pylori. The blood test can remain positive for years after past infection even if you were treated. The stool test and urea breath test can better detect current infection. The gold standard for testing is a biopsy during endoscopy. https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007501.htm ...Read more

Can HCV co-infection affect the accuracy of HIV rapid test results? If HIV and HCV antibodies tests are negative at 5 months, are HIV results accurate
It shouldn't: Antibody tests are specific for the antibodies being tested for, so hcv antibodies shouldn't have an effect on HIV antibody tests. If you've tested negative at 5 months, i don't see why those results wouldn't be accurate, but if you want to be sure, you can always wait another 4-6 months and have the HIV test repeated. ...Read more
You're good: Be thankful for good health, and love safely from now on out of consideration for yourself and others, as a gentleman. You were wise to check. So my HIV test results were 1 positive and 1 negative. Doc wants to do another test. Is there a high chance I'm positive? This has me quite stressed.
HIV testing: The 'order' of these tests is important since it could indicate a change in your status following an exposure. If the first test was negative, and then becomes positive - then I would be concerned. However, if it's positive then reports as negative, this could be what we call a 'false positive'--then you breathe a big sigh of relief. The good news is there are fantastic HIV treatments, if needed. ...Read more

I just took an oraquick in home hiv test. I did test 1 hour after I had my immediate dentures soft relined. Will material used affect test results?
There are several ways to detect the HIV virus. The first is by antibodies. This includes eia (enzyme immuno assay). The rapid HIV tests are these types. The second way detects proteins on the viral coat (western blot). This is a gel plate electrophoresis. Thirdly there is pcr (polymerase chain reaction). This detects and amplifies dna allowing a viral ...Read more
