Could be: You may watch and wait. In the meantime you may take an over the counter pain medication like Tylenol. Counter-intutive as it sounds exercising may help with muscular pain. Start easy and gradually increase the intensity of exercise so that you sweat profusely. Raising core body temperature through exercise is good for health, including muscular aches and pains.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk prodFor good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Shoulder strain: If you haven't done so already, i'd totally ask your doctor about physical therapy and rehab - especially if you're an athlete. Once injured, joints have a tendency to get injured again if you don't break the cycle with good rehab and strengthening. It can be an inconvenience doing pt, but for most people, it's totally worth it. Seeing a sports med specialist can also be useful. Best of luck! ...Read more

Best for you to get: Advise from someone who evaluates you, by examining/investigating you. He'll inform you of the diagnosis/treatment.
So see an orthopod.
It generally last for about 6 weeks, by then if its a partial tear/sprain, it should improve greatly. A few patients don't improve and may need MRI and probably benefit from the surgical repair.
Returning to sports would be once the rc has healed.
