Get a medical exam: A carefully done physical exam from your doctor can tell if there is anything palpable in the armpit(?Lymph nodes). If there is no lymph node palpable, i doubt that you have anything to worry about. Further we can check your armpit with either ultrasound or mammograms or even a ct scan although anyone of these tests alone can show the armpit area very well and exclude anything serious. ...Read more

Lymphadenopathy: Lymph nodes can enlarge for many reasons. Their purpose is to help fight infection and other inflammatory conditions and these may cause enlargement of the nodes. They can also suggest primary tumors of the lymphatic system. I'd just watch: For a little bit. Lymph nodes often pop up when we are fighting off an infection of some sort. They can stay enlarged long after the infection is resolved. If it becomes red, hot, increasingly tender, for sure, get it checked out. ...Read more

A physician would want to examine it and know how long it's been present and if it is tender. Depending on the size, location, tenderness etc it could be any one of a number of things.
