The purpose is to tell what the problem is (diagnosis). ...Read more

My doctor found 4 masses in my breast and one in my lymph node under my armpit. They have been biopsied could it be cancer?

Yes.: If the doctor had thought that cancer were not a POSSIBILITY, he would not have done a biopsy. So, of course, cancer is a possibility. Only the biopsy will tell you if it's an ACTUALITY. Good luck. ...Read more

Biopsy ordered for cyst and lymph node in armpit. I'm 18 is this a bad sign?

Not necessarily: Fairly standard to biopsy any mass in the axilla that persists. Could be a benign cyst, reactive lymph node, or infection. Unfortunately cancer is always in the differential. The other possibilities however are more common. ...Read more

So?: If it's stayed the same size, it's this small, and you don't have fever, weight loss, or night sweats, why not leave it alone? You'd be amazed how many teens have a palpable, stable axillary lymph node or two. ...Read more

Persistent(five years)1.4x1.5cm lymphnode and 1.4cm cyst in armpit lymphoma? I'm 18 U/S was inconclusive. Biopsy in 2 days. What are chances of cancer

Unlikely cancer: I assume that you have had full work up with lab testing and physical exam prior to scheduled biopsy in 2 days. At 18 yrs old, and stable symptoms for 5 yrs, cancer unlikely but biopsy will be very important in making exact diagnosis. If your blood tests including Complete blood count & comprehensive chemistry panel normal, that is a good thing. Good luck with your biopsy and let us know report ...Read more

Trust problem?: I'm thinking that you are having trouble trusting your answers. I've read them and they all make pretty good sense - even somewhat reassuring. So, I'm thinking that it might really help you to find a good specialist Health Psychologist to guide you through the medical maze and let you know how to accept reassurance. Today's medical world is stressful - having an expert on your side is good. ...Read more

Biopsy on prominent lymph node about 3 inches below armpit ultrasound showed no tumour or mass.Should i be worried?

Biopsy on prominent lymph node about 3 inches below armpit ultrasound showed no tumour or mass.Should i be worried?

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more
