Arm Implanon Nexplanon Tattoos
Tattoos on your breasts, or elsewhere, will not have any effect on your pregnancy or on breastfeeding your new baby. It may not be a good idea to get a new tattoo during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, because of the small risk of infection from the small breaks in the skin that ...Read more
Depends: If you had your Implanon inserted within 5 days of when your last period began, it is effective immediately. At any other point during your menstrual cycle, a backup form of birth control (i.e. Condoms) should be used for 7 days. If you are unsure about the timing of insertion, use backup birth control for 7 days to be on the safe side. ...Read more

Would it negatively affect my health or its effectiveness if I were to be tattooed over the nexplanon implant?
It's your choice: It won't interfere with the medicine. I'm a tattoo buff and have three. But you need to be VERY sure it's what you want. Wait several years after you get the original idea and if it is EXACTLY what you want, go for it. It hurts. But mine are so meaningful I would not trade the pain for any pleasure I can imagine. Follow your dream, think for a LONG time, and then make the right choice. ...Read more

I just got a quick sharp pain in my arm where nexplanon was inserted over a year ago. I've had them before, are these pains normal?
See/call who did it:
I can't believe how many times I have to say "call your doctor".
Not sure what you mean when you say you've had them before, mean pains, or nexplanon?
Also, intermittent issues anywhere are nearly impossible to figure out, unless you're having it when you're seeing the doctor. ...Read more

What does it mean when you have sharp strong pains where your implanon is in your arm, it's a reoccurring thing and aches like mad?
Implanon pain/ache: Most likely it is due to the implanon putting pressure on a nerve. Try treating it with NSAID like ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen (Aleve) especially when it is aching. If this is not helpful, you should consult the healthcare provider who implanted the implanon. Perhaps it can be repositioned. It would be a shame to not be able to take advantage of this most reliable form of birth control. ...Read more
Please help! I made an incision in my arm to take out Nexplanon, but it was too deep to reach. I can't pay 300$ for removal, but I want it out!
Medical Cost Care:
The implant should be removed by someone other than yourself. Is there a free medical clinic in your region? Can you go back to who put it in explain your situation and have it taken out. Most medical facilities can make payment plan. Call and shop around for best options to have it removed.

Instead of my nexplanon that is in my arm being in a straight line I t has shifted and is now slanted will it be any problems when it's taken out?
Not at all: If you can palpate it, it's a piece of cake to remove. Don't worry about it ; enjoy the contraceptive benefits. ...Read more
It won't: If implanted properly, it will not break with normal or even intense activity. It would have to be subjected to a very unusual or deliberate sort of stress in order to break. It is designed to be somewhat flexible under pressure, so a little bending is ok, but it shouldn't curl up or stay deformed. ...Read more
If done well: If this is placed correctly it should not interfere with sleep due to the rod implantation. The Implanon can cause hormone imbalances which may interfere with sleep long term due to that as it is a synthetic progestin only method of birth control. Balanced methods like pills are better with hormonal changes. ...Read more
In april I got an implanon rod inserted in my arm. I have been bleeding two months straight. Will it stop any time soon? Is this a problem?
Possibly and no: The most troublesome side effect of Implanon is what is called breakthrough bleeding. It usually occurs because the progestin hormone in Implanon makes the endometrium layer of the uterus too thin and unstable. The bleeding is unpredictable and may stop. It does not effect the contraceptive effectiveness of implanon. ...Read more
I got the implanon removed out of my arm on jan 28, on march 4th I had a light pink period and the next day it was red then it stop is this normal?
Yes it is normal:
Implanon is a hormone-releasing birth control implant for use by women to prevent pregnancy for up to 3 years. The implant is a flexible plastic rod about the size of a matchstick that contains a progestin hormone called etonogestrel.
After removal it is not unusual to see periods slowly returning to normal as the uterine lining restores itself to the natural rhythm. ...Read more

A nexplanation for u: You're probably OK, any injury can hurt for a while, BUT--depends on the injury. Those things can bend and a few have been reported to have fractured, leaking out more of the stuff inside and altering the overall effect--that is, you might have to get it replaced. If a minor bump, don't worry, but if you really whacked it and it stays sore or gets worse, have it checked out by your doctor. ...Read more
I think my implanon broke in my arm. Will they have to cut my arm open to get bothered pieces out?
Implants: While a possibility, the likelihood of the implant breaking is very small. The best thing to do would be to have your doctor examine the site. There are imaging techniques such as xray that can identify the implant. Removal would be similar to if the implant were intact if indeed it is broken. ...Read more

How likely is it that your nexplanon will migrate in your arm? And how long does it take to encapsulate in your arm?
Unlikely;days/weeks: The possibility that Nexplanon "will migrate in your arm" is fairly small, probably 1% or less, particularly if it was inserted properly and in your non-dominant arm. The rate at which your body trigger an inflammatory reaction to "encapsulate it" will probably vary between days to weeks depending on your health status, immune-wound healing response and other metabolic factors. ...Read more
