Could these symptoms be related? Joint pain/ inflammation, fatigue, postural hypotension, dry mouth, poor memory/'fog', arm/hand twitches, clumsiness

Possibly: It is possible that you may have one single condition, although it would seem more likely to be a number of conditions that may be contributing. There are a number of inflammatory arthropathies, lupus, for example, that can cause joint complaints but also a variety of systemic manifestations in their more advanced state. Consider being seen. ...Read more

Assume there is nerve pinch between thoracic and arm w/symptoms-arm pain & finger twitch & hand numb during sleep, will Bikram yoga help or worsen it?

Agree: Dr krauser urges you to put the cart before the horse and get diagnosed. Lots of push to get into alternative therapies by entrepreneurial promoters, but you need to know what is wrong, as things can get worse rather rapidly with certain activities. Sounds like you do have nerve issues, and consider thoracic outlet, but also more peripheral nerve issues. ...Read more

TWITCHING: May be a sign of INNERVATION! (Nerve "coming back") Unfortunately, it can also occur with the ABSENCE of nerve connections! Your Surgeon can order an EMG\NCS (Probably a repeat since you very likely have had the study before)
Hope this helps

I have aching arms and my hands and wrists have been in pain since august. I read that this is a sign of Als. I also have twitching all over.

Oh, not another one: This icebucket challenge thing, which I barely noticed when it was happening, seems to have had the unforeseen & unintended consequence of causing an epidemic of ALS anxiety among great swathes of perfectly healthy 20- and 30-somethings. You have pain & you jump straight to ALS? About 60% of ALS pts have pain but one HUNDRED percent have weakness. No weakness, no worries. ...Read more

Any ideas?: Here's an idea: See a doctor. It doesn't sound like something you should blow off. Weakness in an arm and a leg on one side at the same time should be checked out before you decide not to worry about it. ...Read more

You're right No Dx: You are absolutely correct. On the basis of what you have presented no diagnosis is actually possible much less placing ALS as a possibility. Your age and the fact that you are saying weakness comes and goes on one side of your body puts that off the table. I twitched all over for a week. I feel like I have compressed nerves in left arm/hand and left leg. Now scalp is twitching 2" above left ear. Anxiety?

Twitching: The symptoms you have are very diffuse and do not correspond to any discrete neurological condition such as a stroke. Diffuse neurological symptoms can be seen with certain metabolic conditions such as kidney failure, infections, or liver disease. I doubt you have any of these and I suspect these symptoms could be due to anxiety. See your doctor for a complete work up. ...Read more

Hello.: Hello. I noticed that you have tagged both panic attacks and seizures here. I will start by describing panic attacks. Panic attacks are usually brief. They often last a couple of minutes to around ten minutes. Symptoms can include a sense of severe anxiety or panic as well as chest tightness or pain and a rapid or pounding heartbeat. There could also be areas of numbness or pins and needles type sensation. A person can experience hot flashes or chills and perspire heavily. There may be a tickle sensation in the stomach or nausea. When a person has a panic attack they may feel dizzy or faint and may become physically shaky. The person may fear that they are going crazy, they are out of control or that they are about to die. They may have a sense that they are unreal (a form of dissassociation called depersonalization). The sense that everything in the environment feels abnormal is derealization.
Although what you are describing sounds a lot like a panic attack; it is very important to have a full physical evaluation to rule out the possibility that this a medical problem. I recommend that you be evaluated by your family doctor. He or she may consult with a neurologist. Clearly these episodes feel really bad, so I hope you get a medically evaluated soon. ...Read more

If someone has muscle/nerve twitching and pain in the upper arms, lower arms, hands, feet, legs, upper back, can this be a sign of any std?

STD and muscles: Most STDs cause a rash or discomfort. It is very unlikely that you would have muscle twitching and pain in your body from an STD.

Some STDs cause no symptoms.

If you think you are at risk for acquiring an STD, it is a good idea to be tested. Be sure you have no STDs before you risk infecting someone else. ...Read more

How come my hands and arms twitch as I am trying to fall asleep?

This is normal: Different parts of the brain "fall asleep" at slightly different times. This twitching, called myoclonus, is common upon falling asleep - it is related to the feeling of falling during sleep and waking with a "jerk". If you watch an infant fall asleep, they often have slight jerking movements before they are fully asleep. This is normal. ...Read more

My hubby's hands have tremors and arms twitch. He says they've always done that. What causes that, not parkinson's.

Essential Tremor: If your husband's hands have always shaken then this is probably not parkinson's but a benign essential tremor. Essential tremors run in families and are more common in the upper extremities. They usually occur with action and are absent at rest. There is no cure and sometimes these tremors worsen with age. ...Read more

Feel shaky lately. Hands are shaky and have muscle twitches. Small and almost feel like vibration in arms. Vit D is 20. Could that be a cause?

Unlikely: While your vitamin D level is low, it is not a likely cause of your symptoms. It is not feasible to provide a more meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor. You may take vitamin D3 supplement, available over the counter.

22/m I been having, cramps on my hands, arms, lil twitches all over my body, also in my neck when I make a gesture, weakness in arms, can it be als?

No way.: There are several neurological as well as other conditions that might underlie your symptoms, but it is interesting that you chose to ask about ALS which is not typically seen in anyone close to your age. Thus a thorough Neurological evaluation and nutritional assessment for vitamin deficiencies & metabolism issues is appropriate. You could start with your Primary MD who could do the initial eval. ...Read more

23 /m my left arm, hand is fealing a little weak also my leg, foot, I also have body twitches, the weaknes comes and goes! Can it be ALS, ideas?

Left sided weakness: And twitching that comes and goes. Not sure what you mean by body twitches. If you wake up weak and the weakness resolves think nocturnal focal seizures. (with Todds paralysis) More information is needed (along with a good neuro exam) and possibly EMG-NCS or other studies) ALS is typically symmetric (arm to opposite arm or leg to leg spread) Fluctuations in weakness obviate a work up for MG. ...Read more
