Flaky ears: Ketoconazole is an antifungal medication - and while putting it on dry areas of skin could likely help it (b/c it's in a cream form), a more appropriate cream would be a moisturizer or barrier ointment. I like aquaphor or eucerin cream. If your doctor has diagnosed a fungal infection, then ketoconazole is appropriate. I hope this helps! ...Read more

Possible lymph node: If it a small pea to marble sized lump, it is likely a lymph node that has become swollen in response to the infection. Motrin should help and it should resolve as the infection resolves. If the whole area is swollen, you should see your doctor as this may represent a very rare, but possibly dangerous complication of an ear infection - mastoiditis. ...Read more

Several things: Preauricular and postauricular nodes are in this area and can swell secondary to reaction to regional infection. Skin infections such as pustules occur in this area related to plugged oil glands.Epidermal cysts are another possibility. If area becomes more painful or reddened could be infected and may need to consult physician. ...Read more
