Does it matter which flu vaccine a child with ADHD (takes methylin ER daily) receives? Shot or mist?

Does it matter which flu vaccine a child with ADHD (takes methylin ER daily) receives? Shot or mist?

It does not matter: Both work very well. There is limited data to suggest that FluMist might work a little better. Another upside is no injection, but if you want to have FluMist administered and covered by insurance, certain plans do not cover it. Check first. ...Read more

If one ADHD med causes bad side effects for my child (nausea), is it likely that all of the other types will as well?

If one ADHD med causes bad side effects for my child (nausea), is it likely that all of the other types will as well?

No: One adhd medicine can very well cause a side effect that another one does not. It's an individual thing; one child does very well on methylphenidate and has a problem with amphetamine salts. A second child is just the opposite. A third needs something else entirely. The key is for you and your doctor to work together to find what works best for your child. ...Read more

If one stimulant for ADHD causes me more anxiety will all stimulant medication cause me anxiety? Does the anxiety go away?

Not necessarily, tho: Lots of caffeine + a methylphenidate or an amphetamine is probably not a good idea. Either stimulant can increase anxiety in a person with adhd & comorbid anxiety disorder(s) or decrease anxiety from a situational reaction to inability to please teachers, parents, bosses, meet deadlines, sustain relationships, etc. Because of having untreated adhd. The fda-approved adjunct Intuniv may help. ...Read more
