What over-the-counter pain killer should I take to help relive the pain of blisters around my vagina, that may be genital herpes?
Not the same: Cankers (aphthae) are not herpes. Usually they heal quickly ; require no med. Primary herpes is the very first herpes infection ; shows a mouthful of sores. Most people skip this stage, reasons unknown. The only effective treatment for herpes is a prescription pill. See a dermatologist if you are in distress. ...Read more
I have a herpes outbreak on my butt, above the crack. What is the best over-the-counter medication - without hydrocortisone - for curing that?

I have herpes simplex 1 and get cold sores on my tongue and inside cheeks can I use the same over-the-counter products as I would for a lip cold sore?
May be oral aphthae: Herpes inside the mouth is uncommon. Oral aphthous ulcers are much more likely. The cause of oral aphthae is not known; sometimes oral ulcers are associated with other diseases or with systemic medication. There is no standard (nor very successful!) treatment for oral aphthous ulcers. Check with your doctor to see if he or she can make a more definitive diagnosis and treatment plan. ...Read more

How do you get rid of yeast infection? How do you get rid of yeast infection? What kind of tests should I get done and then what kind of medications are recommended? Are there over-the-counter options? What about natural alternatives?
If this is the first time you are dealing with a possible yeast infection then you should see your doctor for confirmation. I am assuming we are discussing vaginal yeast infections. The symptoms are vaginal itching, irritation, and a white cottage cheese like discharge. The symptoms vary. Most doctors can make the diagnosis by history and examination alone. In addition a special test called a wet mount can be done; this allows the doctor to look under the microscope and make a diagnosis based on their findings.
As far as treatment goes there are multiple over the counter medications, or your doctor can prescribe you a pill and/or a cream. As far as natural alternatives, visit your local vitamin/herb store for lactobacillus acidophilus. There are many forms of this supplement. Ask for assistance.
Please see your doctor before treating yourself, and if it is yeast then you will know the signs and can self treat in the future.

OPKs: Most are fairly accurate. Be aware that its the day after a positive that you ovulate and the test will stay positive for several days after you get a positive, so don't waste additional tests once your test sticks show a positive surge (LH surge is what is being measured and occurs 24 hours before ovulation) ...Read more
None I know of: The only real fertility test for men is a semen analysis which is a detailed look at the sperm and other cells in semen. It grades the sperm quality based on number, activity and shape. If the semen analysis is normal, there is no further testing necessary. When it is abnormal, a physical exam and some hormone tests are the next step. ...Read more
If you having symptoms like HIV and took 2 test 1 over-the-counter and 2nd by primary both negative can it b still possible dat u hve hiv?
See your doc: If u are worried about STD including HIV then make an appt with your physician & get tested. Tests can give false positives/negatives and your best bet is to have your blood drawn. Sounds like you are really stressed over this but as long as your unprotected sex didn't result in bleeding/blood contact your chance of infection with HIV is relatively low. This is an incomplete answer see an MD. ...Read more
I did a drug test and was positive ffor cocaine but have never done any drugs I was sick n taking over-the-counter meds would this cause a falsereport?
Yes, false positive: Yes, many over the counter (otc) medications can cause false positive results on drug tests. This is particularly true for many otc cold medications including inhalers. Up to 65 otc medications and 250 prescription drugs can cause false positive results on drug tests. ...Read more
Will 16 mg of codeine (over the counter pain med from ireland) taken saturday and sunday show up on a preemployment drug test on wed morning?
Unlikely: If you only ingested what you have said, it is likely that your urine test will have dropped below the cutoff levels and be reported negative. This is no guarantee however and if the medication was obtained over the counter without prescription in a foreign country, the medical review officer will likely not accept that as medical justification and be required to report that as a positive test. ...Read more
Yes and no: Otc strips show products that are present with red cells, white cells and bacteria. They don't actually show infection or blood. To do this they need to do a cell count and culture and that has to be sent out. The otc strips are similar and when they are positive they are suggestive of uti. Be careful, blood in urine alone can be stone or bladder cancer. Get it checked. ...Read more
I'm also curious as to which stores will be carrying the new over-the-counter HIV test, and about how much it will cost?
30000+ stores +onlin:
It is currently not available as to where and how much, but this info should be available closer to the actual launch date set for 10/12. I suspect local stores such as cvs, walgreen, wal-mart, target, riteaid etc. Will carry it and probably will cost about 30-40 bucks a pop--just a guess.
Good luck. ...Read more
I have a 99 efgr rating on a kidney blood test. What does this mean for me. Do I have kidney problems and what over-the-counter meds can I take?
Normal: I am assuming the estimated GFR is 99 ml/min. While I join other pathologists and nephrologists who has little use for subscientific estimates of glomerular filtration rates from spot creatinines, this suggests to me that your serum creatinine was normal, and that your personal physician is not concerned either. I'm sorry you got a scare and glad you're taking a proactive approach. ...Read more

I took an over the counter ovulation test it was positive on a Thursday we had unprotected sex 3 days later on Sunday morning. Could I be pregnant?
Don’t guess.: Take a test. they are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. if you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more

I plan on doing a cycle of prohormone steroids soon. I'd rather use a "serm" rather than an over-the-counter test booster/estrogen blocker. Help?
Don't do prohormones: Prohormones are not studied enough to know what the long term side effects are. The most potent form of an androgenic hormone is dihydrotestosterone! the best way to become more androgenic you need more testosterone because everything else is considered less potent. If you can naturally raise your testosterone without going beyond the normal reference range then I see it as safe. ...Read more
