Are shaking chills unusual with mild cold and cough illness?

Are shaking chills unusual with mild cold and cough illness?

Yes: Shaking chills and fever can be a sign of a bacterial infection. Often time pneumonia will start first with a viral illness such as a cold but if bacteria grows in the lungsand cause pneumonia, shaking chills, fever, worsening symptoms of cough, discolored phlegm begins. At that point a chest xray/medical evaluation and most likely appropriate antibiotic treatment is needed.

Cough (Definition)

The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more

What causes you to have shaking chills when you are sick?

Fever, blood infect: Shaking chills mostly go with blood infection called sepsis and are associated with high fever and white blood cell count. Allergic reactions and certain drug reactions can also cause this. Of course it is possible to just get very cold while sick. Then the chills might have to do with that but don't take any chances. Sepsis can be life threatening, get checked out if you reach that state.

Can a kindey stone get stuck in the urthera? I have throbbong and odd stingy felling all the time. Ever since I got the violent shaking chills-puking

Get evaluated.: I'd see your physician as soon as you can. I'm concerned that you may have a serious urinary tract infection, in addition to any stones you may have. A UTI and/or stone the bladder can cause significant pain and irritation that is felt in the urethra. It is possible for a stone to get stuck in the urethra, but this is very rare, especially in women, since it has already passed through the ureter.

If clear watery stool is passed after pm dose of split-dose moviprep w/ dizziness & shaking chills (bp<90/60). Can I half or skip am dose on coly day?

Depends: The more prep you take, the better the quality of your exam. If you feel up to it, you should try to take the morning dose. The last thing you want is to have to repeat this misery because of an unsatisfactory prep! If you just can't do it, you just can't do it.

No.: The symptoms sounds like hyperthyroidism. Stop the medication and go back to your physician. He can better determine whether this was from the medication or something else.

5 episodes in about 5 years. Nighttime GERD followed by shortness of breath and shaking chills which last about 3 hours. Chest X-ray negative. Barrett?

5 episodes in about 5 years. Nighttime GERD followed by shortness of breath and shaking chills which last about 3 hours. Chest X-ray negative. Barrett?

Not necessarily: The symptoms you describe would not indicate having barret's. Those symptoms may be a result of reflux and reflux is associated with barret's. But, barret's esophagus is an asymptomatic change in the lining of the esophagus. Barret's is not diagnosed based on symptoms. The symptoms described are important and should be discussed with your physician.

My husband has had cold chills, a high fever, shaking and numbness all over with a deep cough. Is there something he can take? He has had broccidis many times before

High: High fever and chills are worrisome for a serious infection (bacterial or viral). He could have bronchitis again or even pneumonia or the flu. The only way to be sure is to seek out medical care. It is possible that he may need antibiotics if he has a bacterial infection. By the date of this post almost a week has passed, hopefully he has improved or has seen a doctor by now. If not, he should go right away. Take care.

Upper resp infection: Most likely upper respiratory infection (viral). Try lots of rest and lots of vitamin c and fluids. Most time will go away in few days, otherwise need medications from md.

Viral acute bronchitis visit to urgent care 2 days ago given breathing trtmnt & sent home w/ meds. Developed 103°F fever, shaking chills, nt sweats, w/ worse cough & short of breath. Is it pneumonia?

Probably infection: If the urgent care center didn't perform a rapid flu test, you should get one for prompt treatment that would be helpful. If test is negative, chest xray should be helpful to rule out pneumonia.
