No causes: It is not physiologic to become short of breath for 1-2 seconds. Common causes of breathlessness are: asthma, COPD pneumonia, blood clots, congestive heart failure, heart attack, collapsed lung, tumors and rare causes but all of the above cause prolonged periods of breathlessness.
